At first I thought she was wearing a Sporin (sp?) , but now I think it’s a seashell...

"sporran" is correct, I believe.

And I think you're right, her costume element is a seashell. A fig shell (Ficidae sp.) would be appropriate there, but it looks more like a scallop shell.
