Wow, those roses were really pronounced. So does this mean that the more stem we see, the greater feelings of affection she has for that person? So what does that say about Hiroshi, since we only ever saw the blossoms, and not entire flowers? Maybe it was just platonic after all?

Or, just a purely hormonal reaction, at least at first. She seemed to resent the way her body was reacting to the new Hot Boy, especially considering that he's half-Fae. She was acting as if her body was actively betraying her.

Her reactions towards Shawna seem to be much more emotional... she said that Shawna "totally gets her". That sort of emotional rapport may be "fertilizing" her rose canes, in a way that a purely-physical reaction to Hiroshi did not.

(Dave attempts to refrain from referring to the situation as a "cane mutiny", but fails miserably, and offers the Pun Jar a container of Rootone in apology. Even so, he expects cutting remarks from some of his fellow readers.)
