Do not be too hard on yourself, for picking a Shōjo Ai Manga to read, Pickle; you could be reading a Yaoi, and you would be in the same predicament. The best thing that you could do, is talk to someone who has already gone through what you are dealing with, like your sister, Atsali, or maybe your Aunt Monica.

Given some of the guest art we've seen - like Katharine in her role as a senior MiB exec meeting the three stooges ...errr... agents from Giant Girl Adventures - it could even be semi-canonical...

On the other subject, yuri is perfectly appropriate for our little thornbush. The non-h yuri is all about relationships, which is exactly the problem right now. She could find exactly the same situation in her manga that she is trying to deal with now (especially if para yuri is a thing in the Wapsiverse). They might not even have to hide it.

All I can say at this point is all this has me doing deep info-dives right past Google, et al...
