I was wondering just what her hand position/gesture motion actually means.

It looks somewhat like a "hold down the lid on the teapot to make sure it doesn't explode" but that would be rather recursive, wouldn't it?

If I recall my Japanese culture correctly, that's a "go no further" body language, not pushing away, but neither is it inviting more. "I accept this, but I don't want any further contact."
