I'd be very concerned that if a "wiser, more mature" Siren actually paid any direct attention to Timmy, he might catch fire, fall over, burn to the ground, and sink into the swamp.

As plausible and laudable as her story sounds (which is not all that much, to begin with), there still seems to be something off, about the whole thing...

It occurs to me that this could have been for the purpose of letting Scarlet know that Timmy locking up isn't something about her in particular...

Yup, that's what I took away from the dialog in the first panel. Since Scarlet doesn't seem even slightly surprised at this point, it seems she may have been aware in advance about what Castela's was planning.

After the punching-the-wall episode,I suspect that Timmy might have locked up even if Atsali was wearing a burka . . .

Trust me, he remembers that . . .
