I sorta know how she feels. I grew up in Philadelphia, transplanted to California after college. One of the handful of things I miss about the east coast is a really good, roaring summer thunderstorm. We just don't get 'em here.

Thunderstorms, and lightning bugs. I really miss lightning bugs.

A young paranormal who can create the storm and the lightning? Would enjoy meeting her, but not when she's in a crabby mood. :?

Making a thunderstorm . . . there's no way that can go well!

They could just relocate to Arkansas. We average sixty stormy days a year.

Granted, we probably got a bigger gang problem, but I'm pretty sure Castela could fix that...

Edit: Or just keep track of our weather and poit on down here, now that I think about it.

I’m surprised that http://wapsisquare.com/comic/you-know-what-i-mean/ wasn’t listed as one of the “related comics” – that was a favorite.
I found that really on point, then I found this was the next day's entry (2016 btw...)

Well, she could call Monica over, and have her shout "hey wonderful weather! not a sign of a thundercloud anywhere!!!"

Weathergod wakes up .. "hey, it's Monica!!! heh heh ... :)" and sends Lightning...

Okay, I'm calling it: Pickle gets the electricity she needs when Daylla finally admits how she feels for her and gives her a kiss.

Then lightning cracks out above the place and Atsali wonders what just happened while Katherine grins a "knowing mom" smile.

The really funny thing is that we've had more than usual rain up here in NC Wisconsin than usual. An d I'm pretty sure that the Twin Cities have had similar weather.

Only love can bring the rain
That makes you yearn to the sky
Only love can bring the rain
That falls like tears from on high

Love, reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me
Love, reign o'er me
Rain on me, rain on me

I think that she should try to convince Katherine that she needs a van der Graaf generator in her room anyway, just on general principles.

Hmmm. . .as the only ever known Whatsit in existence, she could probably get away with a fair bit of unique "needing" things, because people couldn't be sure that she didn't really need them.

“I can't go out today, the pollen count's too high. I have to stay in bed to keep my stigmata dormant.”

“No, I couldn't get that task done. My phloem was too coagulated. It's a condition I have. I had to spend all afternoon swimming in a chlorinated pool to fix it.”

“I'm sorry, Mr. Teacher, but I can't sit here and watch this boring video with the rest of the class. I need to go fix my nitrogen. On the sunny rooftop, with a bag of chocolates. Absolutely essential.”

Could be a stormy, tempestuous friendship.
Alkarii wrote:They could just relocate to Arkansas. We average sixty stormy days a year.
Here, it's a rare evening in the Spring or Summer that we don't have a thunderstorm. I think it's partly due to the change in elevation from the plains to the mountains that pushes the humid air up and makes it more reactive.

Glad to see someone using the proper taxonomy for Lampyridae species! I grew up in southwestern PA, and my ex teases me about not calling lightning bugs fireflies.

But you bet your life I'd never call a firefly an upstart! 8-)

Or, alternatively:

"I can't go out today, the pollen count's too high. I don't want to get pregnant."

Edit: Has there been any explanation at all as to what the heck Daylla is?

She's Daylla.

Daylla, it appears, is another plant-based entity. However, she's not in the same category as Castela, as she doesn't devolve into a blackthorn.

However, it looks like she may be related to Audrey.
