Spider girl, spider girl, poofs to human form in a whirl!
Just four limbs, down from eight!
Gonna be Monica's flatmate,
HERE COMES THE SPIDER GIRL!

Does she climb walls and catch crooks?
If it made Digit into a spider-girl, what might it have done to Dietzel?
=============
And i love the casual "Dietzel, go text Cricket..."

If Dietzel were transformed into a hominid form, he might have fit in well with Timothy's family. He apparently already has opposable thumbs and a love for videogames, so cellphones and social media wouldn't be much of a stretch for him.

Which implies sooo much, that D can read and type on a phone, that he can use written English, that basically he's human intelligence but can't speak because his mouth is not built for speech. And that somehow he has developed something that can substitute for opposable thumbs.

It should also be pointed out that we now have a character who has better claim to "creepy spider eyes" than Kath.

i just really really hope her dietary requrements will be well adjusted to her new situation, it would be awkward to find larger animals or even ... anyway ... cocooned up and being slowly digested so she can simply suck them dry ... and lets not forget the fact that spiders silk comes ( well not exactly out of, but it looks like ) out of their asses

i daresee the one or other complication in the immediate future, not to mention the time after that ...

Dogs are much smarter than most people give them credit for.
Many breeds are on par with human three year-olds, with some individuals on par with 4 or even 5 year-olds.

That one takes time. It depends on the human age equivalent of her new for, as there is actually a window for fully acquiring speech. Odds are she'll be limited to 'broken' English on her own. Another talisman might help with full articulation and syntax.

I'm assuming it would have worked as intended for Dietzel.
Let's look at it this way - magic is indistinguishable from sufficiently advanced technology, right? Well, what happens when you throw someone who doesn't know a lick of chemistry into a chemical laboratory and tell them to have at it? Chaos. Nobody knows. They might cause explosions, or accidentally create a super acid, or poison themselves so thoroughly their remains will not, in fact, push up daisies. Or... Nothing might happen. Or something underwhelming might happen. Maybe they stab themselves in the hand trying to put a glass tube through a rubber stopper. Maybe they drop a beaker of base on the floor and slip on it and get a concussion. Maybe they just sit there, terrified, until you get bored and take them out.
Pretty much the same thing with magic, only this time,
the laws of physics are more like guidelines than actual laws.

The magic of the fae is both powerful and unpredictable. Many tales exist of the random results that occur when someone other than the fae gets their grubby protuberances on it. IT was made to do one thing, revert Dietzel to his normal size. I've no doubts that's what would have happened had he put on the ring.
She was warned that the results would be unpredictable if used on anyone else.

I'm actually more curious about him. He's WAY too smart to be a normal dog. Can't help wondering if her's not some paranormal critter like the rest of them.

According to one researcher, an average dog can learn to recognize a spoken vocabulary of more than 150 words. Border Collies seem to be particularly good at it (they've been bred as working dogs, following verbal instructions) and there is one collie which has learned more than 1000 words and can follow some very abstract instructions ("Go fetch the green toy like this").
Expressing themselves... well, they don't have the larynx and tongue control for anything like human speech, and so expressing abstractions verbally may not be in the cards for them (without genetic or magic "uplift" that is). They can certainly express their emotional state and concerns via sound, body language, and actions... even we dumb humans can learn their language to some extent.
Enough to figure out that Timmy has fallen down that damned well again, at least.
As for Digit... who knows how much Uplift she's acquired as part of her transformation. Even Calista may not know for sure at this point. Figuring out what a "cancel the shrink effect on a dog" spell will have done to Pale Arachnia may take some extensive research.

I will point out that DinkyDietzel doesn't need opposable thumbs to text . . . he just has to step on the buttons carefully.
Taking the top off the water bottle back in the dawn of time, OTOH, is a much better indicator.

Sitting playing Nintendo, which i think was in that same sequence, is even spookier.

Does that mean that Monica now has her own adoptive daughter? <3

She's probably "in loco parentis" to Digit, at least for now.
Which is strangely appropriate.
