Definitely a clue inversion . . . not to mention some abandonment issues . . .

Mom must feel the kids are grown enough to not burn the place down, at least not right away-

I'm of a mind to think Katherine got an offer she chose not to refuse, hence the seemingly abrupt departure/scheduling of the whole thing.

Lets see what the 'babysitters' bring to the mix...

Poor Atsali. She is about to confront one of a teen's greatest challenges: a thought, a concept, an idea which makes the brain and spirit reel in horror and dismay! A meme not to be entertained! Something which makes the world shudder with a horrible sense of fundamental wrongness.

"My parent... is... going... to... have... SEX!!!"

Ewww!

Since she's adopted, she hasn't ever had to face that her mother has had sex . . .

I knew a fifteen-year-old who was just mortified when her mother got pregnant again . . . "Mom! How could you do this to me!"

Worse, it was a premarital pregnancy . . .

Hopefully, real simple terms more appropriate to mammals than to beansprouts.

Just in case anybody isn't sure of the whole 'getting your groove back', it's based on a book by Terry McMillan, an author of a few books like 'Waiting to Exhale', some that were made into movies, like How Stella Got Her Groove Back .

(as a matter of fact and imperfect remembrance, I think I assembled one of her 1st IBM PC/XT computers back in the late 80's...)

I should have said separation anxiety, not abandonment.

It's interesting that Castela is apparently fine with it, but Atsali isn't.
