Ah yes, the old "When they make you happy, hug them into submission" trick.
Shelly IS 80,000+ years old, I'd point out; you'd think the Sage of the Forest would have a handle of questions about whether she's high maintenance or not by now.

Remember, though, that those 80k years in the Time Forest were in a context which involved no human or human-ish interpersonal relationships or interactions at all. During a lot of that time, she'd
forgotten even the names of her friends.
The
"new Shelly" has only a five-year history (in our beyond-the-fourth-wall timescale). And, she's been through quite a bit of new-stuff growing since then: revealing her identity and nature to Justin (and learning about his), learning the truth about her mother, learning that Phix is her grandmother, seeing her mother turned back into a child, winning acceptance as a Sphinx guardian... having the occasional luncheon date...
I think she's far from done, in learning who and what she really is, and how she actually relates to the people around her.

Besides everyone at times have periods of self doubt. Thats simply human nature.

Four-legs have them too.
Two agrees . . . perhaps it's simply the nature of sentience.

Yes.
