Is anyone here a vet or a vet tech? I've been finding them in the strangest of places and I wanted poke my nose out here.
If you don't know what a vet tech is, just ask

We're a poorly understood and new-ish profession

Please tell me this has something to do with robot pet doctors...

Robots that are veterinary doctors, not doctors for robot pets, that is.

Unfortunately no D:
We're what basically amounts to nurses for the animals. We do a lot more than that, however. We are nurses, pharmacology techs, Radiography techs, lab techs, and even surgical assistants. Not to mention that while nurses only have to learn about one species, we get to learn everything from horses and dogs and cats to snakes, rabbits, parrots and turtles.
It's a rough two year program! I'm in our Pharmacology class right now and these nervous system drugs are whipping my tail.

Well, if you have a tail, you've gone into the right career.
Good luck with it, a Vet is one of the many careers I never made it to. I do my best now by supporting one with three dogs and four cats...

Oh, same here. I have three cats, a dog, a rabbit, a fish tank, a musk turtle, and a ball python.
Someone in the house is always needing /something/ done to them. At least now I can report the issues to the Vet in a way that will help him make a diagnosis.
And the biggest reason i made this thread, is because there's a vet tech in my local SCA group. I figured if there is one there, why not here? We shall see

“Prevention and more prevention. Let’s fully establish a veterinary system for the prevention of epidemics!”
From a site with a set of vintage Anti-American posters from North Korea.

Creepy? I think it'd be cool to have teeny-tiny cows and goats!
Aaannd...in honor of the occasion...
*singing*
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
You smell like a monkey,
Probably from working in a vets office
Well, the sentiment's there...

If I remember the Jurassic Park novel correctly, when trying to get funding they toured with a tiny cloned mammoth as a proof-of-concept. It was very aggressive just like small, yappy dogs.
Edit: Thinking about it more, it might have been a miniature modern elephant. Haven't read that book in years. The point was to dupe investors into thinking the company's DNA manipulation abilities were more advanced than they actually were at that point. The ultimate goal was to create miniature dinosaurs that could be sold as pets.

Also, Gullivers Travels had small sheep and possibly other small mammals that he brought home from Lilliput.

There were dwarf elephants on some Mediterranean Islands in the Pleistocene, and I believe some pigmy elephants were recently discovered living in Indonesia, on Borneo. Maybe the "hobbit" hunted dwarf elephants (on Flores) with little spears?
