I am baffled
Can someone please explain what is happening in this photo?
The title is apparently "Train Track In The Kitchen" but... How? How did a train track bust up through the floor of someone's kitchen?
I'm completely at a loss here. I literally have no idea how this could have happened. People don't build houses or apartments over railways, and that doesn't even look like a full-sized train rail so... So...
GAH! What the hell?!?
This is really bugging me...

Re: I am baffled
Of course, it can only be collateral damage from a superhero fight...
Re: I am baffled
It is:
* collateral damage from SOMETHING that happened (at least partially) in the space below that room
* not a train track of any sort I recognize
If it were in my apartment I would be:
* glad that I wasn't standing there when it happened
* even more glad that I wasn't downstairs when it happened
* concerned about the structural integrity of my floor and the load-bearing walls of the space below
* interested in having someone qualified take at least a casual glance at the structural integrity of the whole building

This is where a mobile home picked up some road debris while in transit

Re: I am baffled
Not knowing much about the circumstances, it appears a long, thin piece of metal was driven at high speed through whatever outside walls and bent on it's path to spear through the kitchen floor. There have been auto collisions where guardrail sections, pipes, and other such stuff have gone through the grill, to one side of the engine, and into the passenger compartment, causing considerable excitement therein. Train wrecks can easily launch stuff for dozens, if not hundreds of yards depending on the speed, the bounce, and object itself.
Don't let other peoples limitations become your constraints!

That would explain why there is so little space in that kitchen, if it is a mobile home...GlytchMeister wrote:Sgt. Howard wrote:This is where a mobile home picked up some road debris while in transit

Earthworms there have too much iron in their diet.
Re: I am baffled
Mobile homes can have huge kitchens; ours was about 12*14, and that was in a "single-wide". Motorhomes and other sorts of RV, though, not so much.lake_wrangler wrote:That would explain why there is so little space in that kitchen, if it is a mobile home...GlytchMeister wrote:Sgt. Re: I am baffled
Apartments can also be poorly designed, so as to give a ridiculously small kitchen... I once lived in a place that had a "dining room" barely big enough to have a table and yet walk around it, and at the end of which was the "kitchen"... the counter was at the end, with the oven on one side and the fridge on the other, the two facing each other and so close to each other that only one could be opened at a time!Warrl wrote:Mobile homes can have huge kitchens; ours was about 12*14, and that was in a "single-wide". (Yet the place had a double-size living room... )

You think you're baffled and at a loss? Think of the guy who owns the place... I'm sure he was completely floored.GlytchMeister wrote:I'm completely at a loss here.

And the Pun Jar awaits, perhaps a bottle of Future would be nice. Or go all out with an electric buffer.

Re: I am baffled
Definitely not damage while in transit. Too many unsecured objects for travel. My guess is something went disastrously wrong while working in the crawlspace underneath the house.

Not completely, you could easily fix the floor with just a patch...Dave wrote:You think you're baffled and at a loss? Think of the guy who owns the place... I'm sure he was completely floored.GlytchMeister wrote:I'm completely at a loss here.

Correct, and the door that is visible is NOT a typical RV door. Mobile homes (not RVs) are rarely moved once occupied let alone while occupied.shadowinthelight wrote:Definitely not damage while in transit. Too many unsecured objects for travel.
Again, knowing nothing but what's in that picture, I'd be concerned about structural integrity. Of course, even a slight explanation of "What the (bleep) happened down there?", that concern might be alleviated - or might not. It isn't a concern that this thing coming through the floor might have damaged the structure - it didn't. But whatever bent it, mashed it, and shoved it through the floor, might have.

Awwww dammit. I was hoping for "wow that is really cool and unlikely" not "eh it's fake."

The "it's a fake" story is actually a cover-up concocted by the MiB, obviously.GlytchMeister wrote:Awwww dammit. I was hoping for "wow that is really cool and unlikely" not "eh it's fake."
Perhaps Bud was annoyed by something and started throwing objects through the planet again.
