I gots me a job!

Post by Sgt. Howard »

At 11:00 this morning, Pacific daylight savings time, I met with a fellow involved in armed security. A quick look at my 201 file had him very impressed, I will shortly be scheduled for classes in civilian security ROE and purchasing uniform, web gear, Kevlar and whatever to do the job. The pay is less than that of a surgical tech, but the hours are steady and there will be no emergency calls. It will be survivable level of pay and my time off is my time off!

... and best of all... I will be confronting punks rather similar to what I write about!!! (heh heh heh heh heh heh heh....)

hooray!

Of course, there's another part of me that's going "oh, boy... Here we go..."
He's mister GlytchMeister, he's mister code
He's mister exploiter, he's mister ones and zeros
They call me GlytchMeister, whatever I touch
Starts to glitch in my clutch!
I'm too much!

HEY NOW!!! This is the 'Old Sergeant', right? Walking among sub-human life forms with a loaded hand howitzer and a bucketload of ammo... what could possibly go wrong...?

Personally, I prefer the phrase "what won't go right?"

Now was it "The Shakiest Gun in the West" or "Quigley Down Under" that just flashed through the mooshy gray stuff that fills the space between my ears?

This song is not about Al or Sarge.

I haven't heard that in years! Back in the days of my youth (Led Zep, anyone?) a local radio station would carry the Dr. Demento Show late on Friday or Saturday night, been too friggin' long to remember. He'd play "gems" such as this.

Rock on, my brother!

My daughter gave me Led Zep III vinyl as a present last year after I discovered it missing from my album stash. She's also a fan. Four Sticks just played a few minutes ago on my random play.

Naw, y'see, I subscribe to the Alkaseltzer school of shootology. Pop, pop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is. The old double-tap may take up twice as much ammo, but it also gives twice the peace of mind. Just in case, you see. I can buy more ammo. I can't buy more me.

I listened to the good doctor on FM 104.5 KZEP (which should give you some idea of the playlist) Sunday nights 10-12...
I remember hearing a young college student's fan tape of a song he recorded in his dorm bathroom, something called 'My Bologna' on the show.
Here's a little something from the same time period...
