...I'm getting a bad vibe from that middle girl...

Girl on the left- (Thoughts to herself) "She won't last a week"
Girl in the middle- (To herself) "Just what we need- some doofus cutie-pie"
Girl on the right (To herself ) "Dibs on the left haunch,"

Well, the others might be able to hold their own against that. Granted, Atsali is a SuccuSiren, which might give her an edge, but Devyn+Abbie=DoomSplosion is an order of magnitude beyond Atsali.

Does Atsali tell the teammates about her stint on the field hockey team before or after the first group flight?

Everybody seems to have similar bird-type wings, not bat wings or butterfly wings or whatever. I wonder if that's a requirement, the way that other sports often require standardised equipment? Or is it just coincidence, and Atsali can be the odd one out (or even more odd than usual) by having her bat wings pop out every now and then? Though I'd imagine that flying along and suddenly having her feathered wings change into bat wings would be awkward in about all ways possible. . .not the least being the fact that spectators might know what sorts of thoughts seem to trigger the bat wings.

They also all appear to be female, even though we saw some distinctly male-looking teammates in the past, which suggests that sports teams are divided up by gender the way that human schools tend to do. What would they do with any paranormals who don't fit into a strict male/female dichotomy?

That was Devyn and Alexis. Devyn and Abbie might only manage a five-block radius together.

Well, since these ARE (I think) girls from Gryphon High, they know they stand in the presence of the Queen Bee, unofficial niece of the Jaguar Girl, and somebody who hangs out with Devyn. Who, since there were Flight Club members at her meltdown, they should know can send them all somewhere none of them want to go. Not to mention a class A nerd and ridiculously sunny person. And a Siren.

My take on their expressions:

First Girl: "New friend?"
Second Girl: "OH MY GOD, who says Golly Tamale?? Is she being cynical? Is she stupid? SHE'S the Queen? HOW??? She better not try to take MY position!"
Third Girl: "I can take her."

She made the relay team. I bet they have a sprint team, a relay team, and individual races.

Hm. I think 100/200/400/800/1600m would be too short for flyers. What would the appropriate distances be? Or would this be more like Cross Country?

Given that birds of various sizes routinely travel at 30 to 50 knots, a relay race would more likely be of a steeplechase variety, ranging up to marathon distance overall. A 10 minute course would be many miles long at least. Pigeon racing has hundred mile long events and longer, for example.

Another variation would be pick-up races -- no specific course, but the racers would have to visit various places to retrieve, say a bracelet, then on to the next point. As a relay, they would have to plan their connection points, who goes after what, and who makes the final leg with all the bracelets.

Oh, the options are endless!

On an off note, I paint aircraft in Second Life... (My paint vendor is at Hollywood Airport in the J&M hangar if you play in SL) and I've done a Pootis Health Care Solutions paint for the Kamov Ka-26 Hoodlum. It's red, white and Heavy all over and I even have a Pootis two tone siren gesture... LOL

I'm just waiting for the reaction of the local bird watchers.
Their reports will probably be discounted just like the troll sightings.
