Not exactly sure how we got to the "good laugh shared by all"... I'm guessing Pickle is in timeout while Kath tells 'Sali how the stinkweed described her 'ascent'.

*gigglesnort* Poor Atsali doesn't know how to read people well enough to pick up on suppressed hilarity...I remember being afraid I was in trouble when my parents were suspiciously quiet after I'd done something weird... :)

To be fair, Kat had probably drawn a blank there to begin with, and let the shock work for her when she realized she was about to lose it completely.

Actually, Katherine is not talking with Atsali, in the third panel, but with Monica. Notice the hair not defying gravity, and the lack of freckles on the face. And from the way Atsali is talking to Nadette, she has no idea that Katherine found this to be most hilarious, but didn't want to hurt Atsali's feelings.

No wonder Katherine went to her room first, before joining them for dinner... she just couldn't hold the laughter in any longer!

Wow! Kat has come such a long way. Hope she didn't lose Oscar along the way.

Amazing how different things look from opposite sides of The Great Familial Divide...

Last panel... I actually thought this was going to happen and intended to say something but got involved answering other posts... I just knew that she'd run to monica and laugh her ass off...

+4 to Constitution Kath... you made your roll!

Funny you should mention Oscar; There is a new TV show (On USA Network I think) called

Image.

Its a trip, and gets trippier as it goes along. Its not quite the acid trip that 'Max Headroom' was, but it does indeed have it's moments.

The tie-in to this subject (Wapsi, Kath, Oscar in particular) is that the protagonist, after a certain point, is the owner of this:

(Linky )

Since it's a show based on Hacking, and all that implies..., the Betta's name is 'QWERTY'. (dam'n, that was easy to type, but not so, at the same time...) I encourage folks to see it, and from the beginning makes a difference, but at times it's very not-safe-for-young-children.

Sometimes it's simply better to let the kids think you're angry than to let them know you think it's hilarious.

I found out later in life that several (Hah!) 'Go to your room!' moments were so that I was out of the way so my parents could laugh at something they really didn't want to encourage...

...No she isn't. She's in her school clothes, as is Nadette. That cooler in the background of the first pic is from the Gryphon cafeteria from Calista's intro to the Ursa Twins.

ITYM "In the last panel Monica is wearing a top that looks like the one Atsali was wearing last night".

Atsali is in her school uniform.

Nadette is portrating her school uniform.

Nadette isn't in her school clothes - Nadette is portraying her school clothes.

If she's going to Gryphon, and the school issues the uniforms, Nadette would have been issued them even if she doesn't need to physically wear them. That being said, Nadette may indeed be wearing her uniform, as she thinks that's naughty... Knowing Atsali could slide her hands under the clothing. I think it's more the knowledge that she could, than from Atsali actually having done so.

They're wanting paras to learn to act human. They would have to wear uniforms. What happens if a situation arises and they need to "share" a jacket with mundanes? Morphed clothing can't be. They'd need to have real clothing for situations, and need to get used to how it feels. That she's comfortable enough in them that she wants to wear them for Atsali is a bonus.
Remember, Jessie was told to swim like a human, even though she is a very good one in her natural form.
I'd be willing to bet the twins have to wear real clothes while in school(nothing to say that as soon as that final bell rings they're not shifting out of them and packing them to take home).

Except that Atsali isn't too clear on WHEN that sort of thing is appropriate...
