With the recent talk of Kim-chi, this certainly caught my eye.

ROFLMAO
Yanno how some people have Angels/Devils for a conscience? I have a Dark Elf ShadowKnight and a Half Elf Ranger for mine. The really bad part is when they agree on something.

My wife Gwen gave me a rather sour look when I related this bit of news. Kimchee is just too strong a taste for her. "What else could I eat which would work that way?"
Maybe someday they will figure out the magic ingredient or substance in really good anticancer kimchee and make it into gelato?

Strong how? Which ones has she tried(out of many dozens of types)? There are some that are not so spicy, not so "fishy", some are a sweeter spicy...Dave wrote:My wife Gwen gave me a rather sour look when I related this bit of news. My Mother made a radish kimchi that must be eaten fresh. Uses bite sized radish, just enough pepper paste to colour it, shredded bae(Korean pear), scallions, ginger, and the salt to soften and purge the radishes.
Oikimchi(cucumbers), another fresh kimchi, uses pepper paste, a bit of salt, scallions, garlic, ginger.
Water kimchi, and I cannot explain how to make it without a wallotext, but not strong taste.
When I say fresh, it's ready to eat the next day, and must be finished in about a week.
Many only know of the nappa Winter kimchi that needs several days to ferment.

If I remember correctly, I read the article before the internet was the choice for wacky stories. There was a thing in one of the main squares where the vendors would make an extreme flavor to lure people to their stands for a sample. They would then buy a cone or bowl of something else.Hansontoons wrote:And it was on purpose??? Ah, nothenkew.

Mainly to get the taste of the sample out of their mouths I assume...

Now, I'm told it's both regional, and personal taste, but I do not use the "fish paste" in mine, but use salted "brine shrimp" if I want a seaside flavour, which is how my Mother makes it.
Made from Nappa cabbages, you dork!

Darn, I cant dredge up a Jang Geum picture of her testing her sense of taste with the varied jars of shrimp...
(I might have to un-archive it and do my own screen-capture. How pedestrian.)
PS- There is Ice Cream, and then there is Ice Cream.
Vanilla, in and of itself, isn't plain nor boring. It's the care and love put into it that makes the difference.
And of course, the Churning...
