Purpose Comment Section

So, Julie said something to me a while ago that resulted in this thread existing. She said she didn't want to break the flow of my story with comments and such, which I figured might also be a reason nobody (except for an intrepid few) seems to be saying anything about Purpose.
I also realize the subject matter (dealing with gods and titans) might also catch people off guard and so they don't have a whole lot to say (insight courtesy of Sarge).

Anyway, I decided to try this out: a separate thread for comments, both from all you people and from me, regarding Purpose. This is where I'll be posting my "Author's Notes" and "Author's Quips", and all y'all can comment to your little hearts content, without fear of jolting the flow of the story.

And now, my first comment:

Sorry for the delay, things got pretty busy IRL for me. Been working on my undead car lately, and so my brain has been full of stuff about that, leaving little room for Purpose. But I've gotten past a critical stage (with help from those who replied in my Car Necromancy thread) and now, hopefully, I can devote a little more time to my writing.

I liked Tepoz's use of Monica's "poke with a stick" phrase. :D

*inclines head*
I tried to pack a bunch of callbacks in there to really crank up the nostalgia with Tepoz's introduction.
Bunny slippers
Weather channel = video fireplace ("touché")
He was "volunteered" to care for the golem girls ("Me?!?")

I also tried to make his small size apparent. If anybody's wondering, that bean-bag chair he has is an actual bean bag, like the ones people throw at plywood boards with holes in it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how M and Tepoz handle John...or maybe how he handles them. :D

Actually, there's more to it than just not wanting to comment; other than the Happy Wedding (pretty much) I've not started any new 'fic threads due to current time/attention limits. Same reason for the 'skinnwalker' thread, just waiting until I can give it my better attention mode.

Lately I've been shooting from the hip, so to speak in little parts and pieces...
(Tina hasn't seen me in weeeeeeks...)

AUTHOR'S SLEEP-DEPRIVED RAVINGS:

Blaaarrrggghhh. I can't sleep, and now I'm too tired to write. Benadryl, codine syrup, meditation, breathe-right strips, calming background noise...
I've pulled every trick I have access to right now and I still can't sleep.
Bluh.

Still, I got two good-sized posts in before my writing mind broke.
...
I was gonna say something else, but I forgot. Crap. Uh...

Stay tuned? Whatever. I'm gonna quit before I get... Uh... More behind. Or something. Ugh.

Poor Jet...I hope this doesn't hurt her too much. :(

Unfortunately, that's what happens when immortal people get into relationships with mortals.
Remember, Monica is at risk for just as much potential pain as Jet.

Sorry. Try though I might, my stories don't always end up happily ever after.
But will this one? Stay tuned to find out! Muahahahaha...

The best stories don't end with perfect happily ever afters.

I know.
I still don't like making my characters sad. It makes me sad. Empathy sucks sometimes.

Slightly-off-topic question:

How does The Library deal with ebooks?

It probably has some futuristic version of a hard drive bank. Maybe like the buffer crystal the Nui Gui was trapped in?

The job of manually transcribing each new ebook onto parchment is assigned to "low on the social status ladder" apotropaic sphinxes.

If they've been naughty lately, they are required to pluck out their own pinion feathers to make the necessary quill pens.

If they have been very naughty... well, the parchment has to come from someplace.

Y'know, what with being an apex predator on top of the food chain and all that, Apotropiac Sphinxes (besides Phix) aren't really all that advanced.
It's like half of their brain is stuck in caveman mode.
Phix managed to get some WD-40 in there and get the other half turning too, but it still seizes up from time to time.

Just an interesting way of thinking. I don't think we humans would have gotten as clever as we have if we started out on top of the food chain.
