Good in a way to see that Jessie's smile wasn't malicious... it was what Ray Bradbury described as "the kind of smile that, on the face of a baby, means gas." She could be in trouble with the Queen Bee through no fault of her own... now, to see if her damage control efforts make things worse rather than better.

I wonder how complicated Paul is gonna make this, and how happily ever after-ish the resolution will be.

HANSONTOONS called it- she was worried about repercussions when Atsali realizes that Jessie's Brother is the reason for the cancelled date...

.. and so a Ninja corners Jessie away from water, and as he pulls his blades he says, "MWAH! SUSHI! Toto mo oi schi!"
("AHAH! SUSHI! Very tasty!")

I think that this relationship will have to be mapped in n-space, not enough directions to map in 3D...

This is like Twelfth Night, except that this has paranormal players.

This is getting to the soap opera level of interconnection.

Jessie is still locked into the manipulative mindset of the "queen bee" status quo. She fears retribution that is not consistent with "Sali's character. As voiced above, let's hope the 'damage control' doesn't backfire.

Miss K is as surprised as anyone.

Y'know, I seem to be the only one thinking this way, but I don't think her frantic worry is for what everyone seems to think. Yes, she's worried about herself, but I think it's less fear of being ridiculed, and more fear of losing Atsali as whatever they've become. We may not of seen many scenes of the two together, but obviously they've hung out, and as the first thing that crossed her mind, before the thought of blame, is how much Atsali was looking forward to the date, then I think she considers her a friend now. And that's the main cause of her worry, losing that.

Totally. In fact I think it will get worse.

Plus Paul is using another trope for the story line. Friends do stupid things to protect someone from being emotionally hurt. All Jessi has to do is call Berdi and ask if she has heard about this. Problem and worry gone. Will anyone think to do this NOOOOOO they won't. All Jessi thinks to do is call in someone who is totally in the dark to help.

One thing we learn here is that Atsali and Jessie are at least at the "exchanging confidences" relationship level...
