If you* ever get bored with the more commonly known mythological creatures, he might take a gander at the website "A Book of Creatures" http://abookofcreatures.com/author/abookofcreatures/
As for mythological figures, one might try http://www.native-languages.org/legends.htm There's a list of folklore indexes after the "Folklore by Tribe" listings. It also has a number of mythological creatures, such as the Skadegamuct (ghost witch) and Jipijka'm (horned serpents).
*No, I'm not directing this at anyone in particular.

Re: A Book of Creatures
I am suddenly reminded of Newt Scamander's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
He's mister GlytchMeister, he's mister code
He's mister exploiter, he's mister ones and zeros
They call me GlytchMeister, whatever I touch
Starts to glitch in my clutch!
I'm too much!
