Well, there is a certain truth in having confidence when you can take something that people might try to ridicule or make fun of you for and instead make jokes about it. The problem here is that people deal with these kinds of issues in different ways, and there's rarely a "wrong" way to go about it. Some can just ignore it, and be stern when they need to. Others take control of the situation by making a joke. While there are other's still who... lose their temper over it, but still get their point across.
