At the cost of $15 for sundries, a wrenched back and a puffed lip where i faceplanted on the computer just after it landed on my camera bag and destroyed my $45 Sunpak flash, it's back in action.

That sounds pretty much as if maybe you should have stayed in bed this morning?
Usually, when I have days like that, the only signs of "don't bother, it will be a disaster" seem to be the ones that are imperceptible at the time, and blazingly obvious in retrospect.
