That's probably the best possible way that this bit of turmoil could have been calmed down. Mama Bear to the rescue!

A few thoughts:

It looks like Atsali had quite her hands full, and I'm not sure how much longer she would have been able to restrain Castela. Soon enough, she would have been all vines, and slipping through Atsali's hands.

It's nice to see that Kathering has indeed been brought up to date on Castela's background (how much, or when, we don't know, but still...)

I'm hoping to see Kathering kneel down, next, and apologize to Calista for her daughter's behavior. You know, just treating her with proper respect, not fearing her or anything, just being decent.

A thought: you think the Orphanage gave "normal" (or semi-normal) Katherine a "command voice" option to be able to control her paranormal charges?

I'm not so sure that she's been "brought up to speed" on ANYTHING yet... by the tone of her voice, and what she says about her throwing a fit, to me it seems that she was Poited right from her office at work, DIRECTLY to here in the cafeteria with NO info at all. (probably so that the Staff of the school doesn't have to deal with THIS kind of scenario... Katherine MAY have been there long enough to hear Pickle yelling about the fairy at the orphanage, but I'm not sure about anything else, as it all happened rather quickly after that...

A minor part of the problem was that Castela wasn't acting out like an animal. She was acting out like a supernatural plant...

I have the distinct feeling that Mr Meadows knew all of the details and gave all of them to Katherine when she adopted the girls. I do not picture anyone not telling the head of the orphanage all about a potential danger like Castela can be. Being the only member of a new race there would be no information in any standard data base of para-normals to follow after all.

I also get the feeling that Atsali's personal "street cred" has just shot up in the eyes of a few people. And Mama wont miss out on how well she handled the situation as well.
After looking at the "Castela at 21 Both Sides" picture I have the feeling that she is going to be a guardian protector like her Aunts (Maybe even working with a certain Fae Princess).
