all, i can say is "wow"... Bud DIDN'T know that Bia was Shelly's MOM?, even after all this time? and if she didn't know THAT, then what'll you say to the theory that she doesn't know that Phix is her GRANDMA EITHER?!

It does seem as if Tina's concern of last week ("They're all blowing me off and making light of the weird things happening to me") has been addressed. Between Bud's eruption and Shelly's "sociopathic bitch" comment, Bia's (virtual?) presence has been acknowledged quite definitely!

Something doesn't make sense to me, though. Here, Bud is reacting as though it's news to her that Bia is Shelly's mother.

But, back when Monica's Jaguar Girl powers manifested, Bud seemed to know that... or, at least, knew that Shelly's mother had the power to make the blade imbued with Phoenix blood that Shelly had stabbed Monica with.

So... just how much did Bud know, and when? Who (and what) did she think Shelly's mother was/is, if she didn't know it was Bia?

A surprise twist, naturally. There are a lot of titans out there, maybe she thought it was Eos or someone. We know the GGs were being hidden from someone, and Bud has been avoiding the Library, where all the answers are, like a Thanksgiving reunion.

(EDIT: Bia had been constructing that convoluted lie about Shelly's ancestry for someone's reception.)

But Bud is plainly tired of the constant manipulation. At least when she's not the one doing it...

I think that if Acacia doesn't know now and finds out, she will either swear off drinkin', have a Stroke or both.

Bud didn't know Bia was Shelly's mother?

Hard to believe given Moinca and Euryale were primary participants when Nudge got angry and dumped the cat out of the bag in public. Between the 2 of them everyone would be bound to find out, unless Phix told them to keep quiet. After seeing this I doubt they would have dared told a soul without clearing it with her first.

Shelly obviously knows, probably from some quiet discussion with Nudge.

Bud hates being manipulated - that's why she slagged down a pretty good hunk of desert after she realised how Senior Director Oduya was jerking everybody around.

I imagine the conversation went something like:
Bud: "I wonder where that blade that we put in Monica's head came from."
Shelly: "My mother made it."
Bud: "What?! Who is your mother?"
Shelly: "I don't want to talk about it."

And here I got that it just sounded like Bud was surprised to hear Shelly refer to her mom as "that sociopathic bitch".

An explanation for Bud knowing Shelley's mother made the blade without knowing who she is- wasn't it mentioned back during the Calendar Machine arc that she had made all of the dolls they used? (I don't think it was ever really explained how Tina came to have the one with the blade, though.) This was back before Shelley or anyone else knew who Bia was.

True, but that wouldn't explain why that would make Bud feel better about testing the phoenix theory on M. The way Bud re-verified that knowledge with Shelly after punching M's heart out kind of suggests that Bud knew Shelly's mom was special and/or in-the-know about the supernatural/paranormal world. If she knew that much, it does make it harder to believe she didn't know that Shelly's mom happened to be Bia. Unless...
