Funny: today, Amanda looks, to me, like one of the ursamorphs (in the third panel)... while yesterday, Monica looked like Atsali, in the first panel...

Uh oh - do not tease or provoke the Jaguar Girl - I feel a Monica's Magical Headspace Imax experience coming on for Amanda, if she keeps pushin'....

*edit* Mon's getting catface markings and fangs, too - run for the hills!

In panel three, Amanda says "...but you are a naive!" Should that "a" be there, or can we noun adjectives now? :)

So is Amanda saying that Monica is toting a pair of WMD's around? If so the containment field costs more than $200, try $1000 now. Inflation you know. I'll let everyone figure out their own way to take the word inflation's meaning for themselves.

Drops a Webster into the pun jar.

Yes, "A Naive" is technically incorrect, but considering how drunk Amanda apparently is, it's acceptable.

I would have thought that it would have been more to correct for her to say "you're a naif".

(first ever post since lurking so long and lots of judos for such an engrossing and broad ranging plot-line and delightful envisioning of the characters)

She's a drunken. Which as jwhouk sez, actually excuses any typos. (Though it is the only typo. The hypercorrect noun is naif.) [Edit: only a halfling can ninja another halfling.]

Monica is terribly perceptive and thoughtful of her limitations, but still remains willfully blind to the impact of her potential. She can't absolutely control how others see her, but she isn't at their mercy, either. Just because she is not responsible for others' actions doesn't mean she can absent herself from them or the responsibility. This is part of domestication, so perhaps it's the Jaguar that doesn't want to know. In any case, this isn't genuine naiveté, she's too experienced for that, but willful ignorance.

Which has gotten her heart ripped out before. But perhaps that's preferable to "reading" her longest friend and making her take in the fear of death as a lonely cat lady straight to her face.

Amanda's only proven that Monica can beat herself at Double-blind Solitaire. I think I'd be afraid to see what happens if she loses.

Yes this could be quite dangerous, remember Monica angrily poited Nudge into that volcano over Nudge's comments about her boobs and Monica was completely sober at the time.

What if, in her tipsy-ish state, Mon figures our how to tune into even slight fears, and manifest them in a prorptionate fashion? An awakening with a pair of temporary hangovers might be a nice start to the New Year.

/back in the 70s, Ma had a t-shirt that said in large print "Avoid Hangovers", and in small print underneath "wear a bra." she was like Monica and Shelly, a little bit.
