I REALLY hate this

I'm about halfway through a painless migraine; roughly half of my field of vision has paisley sparklies overlaid on it, and they "crawl", because they're off-center and my eyes keep trying to track them.

I get that with 'floaters' a fair amount. My eyes keep trying to focus on them... :(

Damn... sorry to hear that. One of the guys I work with had an "optical migraine" of that sort a couple of months ago; scared the hell out of him until the on-site doctors recognized the symptoms and told him that no, he wasn't having a stroke.

I had a somewhat similar thing occur as the result of an allergic reaction (to Georgio perfume) some years ago... but it did hurt like hell, and in addition to my vision going wonky, I developed a case of short-term aphasia. Couldn't speak worth a darned... couldn't even form the words. Really frightening!

I had a stroke and had no idea - until I looked in a mirror and saw the right side of my face slumped. Then I tried to say "What the hell?" - and it sounded like my mouth was full of marbles. Woke up that way one morning....

And if you're a telephone operator like me, you DON'T want to sound like that. It eventually went away - but I still have memory issues and 'loose the right words' sometimes.

I had that happen to me and when I called my doctor he made me get a ride to see him as fast as possible. If I didn't have someone to drive me, he was going to send and ambulance. Turned out I had Bell's Palsey, inflammation of the nerves that operate the facial muscles. Steroids and B12 chased it away after 3-4 weeks. Just a major annoyance, but scary until I knew better...

Happy to hear it turned out to be something manageable, if not minor.

After having my wisdom teeth out, I woke up about 3AM in a cold sweat wondering where I was. Boo, hiss Percodan.

They got me something else and it worked more gently.

I think the part of that phrase you forgot to add is: "Back in MY day..."

I'm just waiting for someone to walk uphill, barefoot, in the snow.

You forgot to place "Both ways" at the end of that statement. (Thank you Bill Cosby)

Hauling the bucket of milk you got from the cow that day...

And this fancy internet stuff? Why, I remember when we had to carve our electrons by hand, the stuff them into the wire with a little funnel and eyedropper. Don't tell me how hard life is!

When I was a boy, we still made sounds and emitted body heat like some kind of animals.

At least you had electrons. Do you know how hard it is to transmit 0s and 1s with burning embers?

(I must admit that my body is still making animal noises. Mostly without my permission.)
