I'd classify that as one of the more thorough remodeling jobs I've seen lately.

Okay, one of several things could be happening here:
  1. Owners took the building down, intent on remodeling, and have yet to get the plans for the new building okayed by corporate. Don't know if Church's has any plans to do "makeovers" of its restaurants, but this is a possibility.
  2. Owners took the building down, intent on remodeling, but Church's may have yanked their franchise from them - for whatever reasons.
  3. Owners took the building down, intent on remodeling, but never got the permits/legal hurdles to rebuild. Might still be trying to do so, but could take a while (government wheels running slow and all that).
  4. Owners took the building down, intended to remodel, ran out of money and never finished. (Probably waiting for condemnation by the city).
  5. Owners tore the building down, with no intent on rebuilding, but failed to remove the old sign.

It's not Church's, it's Popeyes. The building only came down within the last week or so; i ate there just a couple of weeks ago.

They've redesigned their stores completely since this one was put up. (It used to be a franchise, but i think it's company-owned now)

CHurch's and Popeye's used to be owned by the same company (which is out of Atlanta), but Church's was sold off a few years ago.
