A hat like that should have a story...

Oh I shaved since the hat picture was taken, now I'm really ugly.

I hope we're not making physical esthetics a criteria for entry. That'll be a four hour trip for nothing...
:?

Oh goodness no! Besides...it's not an ugly face. It's a face with character! (At least that's what my mama taught me to say/think instead of calling someone ugly :P )

Along with a sincere "Bless his/her/its heart!"

Or so say the Texas folk that my daughter is related to.

HAHA! Yeah...the only derogatory blessing I know. I try to use it more as a thank you instead of a back-handed/pitying comment, but most people down here definite use it in place of saying something mean...so it becomes the something mean they're saying. :)

Yeah, my sister-in-law in Alabama said "bless his heart" about someone once and I said "Isn't that Southern for 'what an idiot'?" She laughed and agreed that yes, it usually is.

Forecast is giving us a potentially wet ride Saturday from points south of Dallas to said location. No worries, we need the wet!

But that does mean I may have to keep it under 80 if the rain becomes annoying.

My plan is to walk the J at daybreak, two mile circuit that she expects when she realizes that it is daylight and I am home. Then hit the highway, probably stop at the Madisonville Buc-ee's for fresh coffee infusion, then continue north.

I'll ask for Julie's table when I arrive. Unless I spot a certain colorful hat first.

And looking at the location, which approach would be the least traffic-y at noon on a Saturday?

The Flying Saucer is a seat yourself location, so there won't be anyone who knows which table is "Julie's". I know Jabber knows my face since he managed to friend me on Facebook, but obviously none of the rest of you do. I'll see if I can decide what to wear a bit early so I can post identifying features here. :)

Go up 45, of course, to Dallas proper then split off to 75. 75 to 635 west, exit for the Dallas North Tollway (exit 22B) and stay on the feeder road to Belt Line Rd and turn right. Turn right on Montfort, the first right, and it's right there.

If you want to avoid the tollway...

While scoping out the area, I noted it is a mall zone. I just like avoiding traffic if possible. I know how Houston traffic is on mid-day on weekends.

Wait, squirrel?!?

Hale and Darnation, I really wish I could be there! A bit too far to commute on a workday, though (I used up all of my vacation hours traveling with Gwen last month).

I think we need a Northern California unofficial Wapsicon before too long. I know Tazmaniac is in the area, and maybe Sgt. Howard could make it down from the northlands... and there may be others in the area?
