Seriously though...the cynic in me loves some of the things Texas has a reputation for, but the sociable intelligent me cringes to think that's how we're known. :)
I know Texans as the most honest, friendly, wonderful folks I have ever met.
Living as close as I do to Gary, IN(and having worked in sections of said city before the reformation began) and having been stalked before, I am a bit skittish of someone following me.
I was in one of those HUGE malls in Dallas(they have an AMC theatre in it, and a bunch of tourist traps there). I had almost made it to the theatre, when I spun around ready to punch the guy that I knew had been following me and my son for ten minutes...only to have him return my wallet.
He followed me at a distance because he was afraid of spooking me, and because I did not know the, "excuse me Ma'am!" was directed at me.
I felt awful, and he said he was worried I couldn't care for my son without it, so he was making sure we were safe, and also told me my secondary belt had snapped, which was why my wallet fell out of my purse. He also told me where to get a repair kit for it, only to have one of my friends that noticed I was not with them, do the howdy thanks routine. I got all sorts of answers in a hurry about any subject I was interested in, and always a smile...and such politeness. I do not know what I would do if I ever encountered a rude one.

SO Miss Julie, no, that is not all Texans are known for.
O' COURSE not. We're also known for all ^^that^^, too! Goin' back someday, maybe I'll retire there.....

And you have now become only the second person I've met over the years who has heard of Piper, one of my favourite authors.
Little Fuzzy...and I've put 'Lone Star Planet' on my to read list...
I've read about Little Fuzzy too, many, many years ago. Yeep!

As for my beverage--I'm not sure, but it would be a hoot to see what she'd offer.

Two Texas stories:

1. A Texan was boasting about his ranch: "I can jump into my pickup, drive all day in any direction, and at evening everything I can see is still part of my ranch."

West Dakotan: "I know--I used to have a pickup like that."

2. A visitor asked the Texan about having air conditioning in his car. He replied, "Nah. I just keep a six-pack of fresh Ford Fiestas in the freezer . . ."

3. (Even two is bigger in Texas!) A visitor asked the Texan what he gave his beloved daughter for her sixteenth birthday.

"35 acres."

"That doesn't sound like much!"

". . . in downtown Houston?"

John Scalzi just recently did a reboot of that called "Fuzzy Nation" with the approval of the Piper estate... Also a really good book.

Since Bmonk brought up Texas stories I have one from way back. A man from a small town America flies to Texas for the first time. When he debarks the plane he is startled at the sheer scale of the airport. He looks around with his mouth open and finally says out loud, "my this is such a huge airport" to which a passerby says "everything is bigger in Texas." he is amazed at that until he gets in the taxi to his to his hotel, and sees the biggest buildings he has ever seen all around him and he says so and the taxi driver chuckles and says "everything is bigger in Texas." He then gets to his hotel and enters the lobby to find that it is easily 3 stories tall. He just stands there and say "This i the biggest lobby I have ever been in." to which a bellhop says "everything is bigger in Texas.". He just decides to accept the fact that he is going to see things that are bigger than anything he has seen before and just roll with it. He starts to walk through the hotel looking up the whole time and not paying attention to where he is going when he trips and ends up in the pool. He starts to panic and screams "Don't flush!!!".
