Catawampus wrote:They might have heard of bourbon, but might not know how it is spelled. Looking at the letters in the word, it's not entirely obvious how to pronounce it. They could be thinking, "bow-urb-on? What's that?" and not connecting it at all with the drink.
True . . . hadn't thought of that. Not everybody grows up in a logging/farming community with a lot of drinking.
Catawampus wrote:I wonder how they're planning on getting home? Is vorping whilst under the influence prohibited?
They're teenagers . . . planning is not their long suite. And I would think that VWI is not a good idea . . .
Catawampus wrote:For that matter, do any of the teenagers in this comic have a car yet? We've always seen them travel by foot, teleportation, rocket, or wings.
A lot of the adults don't seem to have a car either . . . Monica did, but I don't know if it was repaired after the oil pan fell off; Katherine did the last we knew, but she traveled mostly by bus; Shelley did, but we haven't seen her driving in a long time; the band
Fermented Banana had a van, but we haven't seen them in a long time either . . .
If MSP has a decent transit system, they may not need one.
OTOH, getting to an upstate cabin by transit would be exceptionally difficult.

Monica sold her old Yaris. Last I heard, these three sisters had bought it for their daily commute to work in Bloomington... O:)
Shelly has a motorcycle and (had) her old '68 Camaro.
Minneapolis does have a pretty good transportation network, especially Light Rail connecting the MOA with downtown and the airport. There's also car sharing, bike sharing, and the Skywalk system downtown during the winter months.

which actually has a more potent kick, due to new casks process versus aged ones. Bourbon is really smooth, and clashes with the sharpness of the spearmint muddle. The whiskey blends with the spearmint, sort of mellowing both out into a refreshing minty smoothness, if that makes sense.
Very important. Muddle not mush. Gently bruise the sprigs. Stir until glass is frosty, not freaking shake. If I see one more wannabe mushing the mint and shaking it, then complaining that they can't understand why it tastes like petrol fumes...grrrrrrr! Sorry, it just irritates me.
It IS, it IS!, of course it is!
my two cents; I think they were expected Eggnog to default to 'virgin' and you add the booze if you want, not that it could be expected to come from the container already hitched.
'Hard Nog', now there's a marketing opportunity.
Happy New Years Eve you knuckleheads!

yepper, most of the time when you see the marketing blurb 'aged' or 'sipping' they are alluding to something you are likly drinking slowly and for taste vs the effect of inebriation. Made right there are a quite a few things that taste quite nice and smooth, really. And people are just fine without too...

If you can telepoit, fly or perambulate on various and sundry styles of feet, why would you want a car? I can see only the true motorheads wanting one...
i can see one such reason quite easily...
HUMANS!
remember the whole thing with Phix royally reaming Monica and Shelly's asses for their Parkour to Stella's restaurant? if these hypothetical Para's fly or perambulate on anything other than two mundane looking human feet, then that would stick out and get noticed, probably by the scum of the earth... and then that Para might not be counted among the living shortly thereafter...
since W.O.G. has it that the two of them are NOT in their normal neighborhood, i would most likely assume that they both got there via Vorp from the Library... OR... they traveled with Nadette's Parents to the cottage, and then were left there under their own cognizance by her parents? (unlikely but possible.) that seems likely only because she's worried about them finding the missing eggnog, as if they'll be back at any moment.

Exactly.
And if the human predators think the paranormal they're targetting is pure human . . .

That's kinda hard on the predator!

I don't know about that . . . as noted, Nadette may simply be being paranoid, possibly from the "father knows all" routine . . . she's convinced that her parents will find out because they always do . . .
I wonder if Berdine is in on the plan, and is covering for Atsali and Nadette . . . a shapeshifter could cover pretty readily, as long as only one of them has to appear at a time.

Okay, now my theory is that they went up there with Nadette's parents who went out for a while. And came back. To find the two girls passed out on the floor. They snickered, calculated the likely effects, and went to bed, wondering what story the kids will come up with in the morning.

Why would anyone want schnapps that tasted like mouthwash???
If you don't like it, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I've never liked coffee and I've tried a variety of additives. I just don't care for it, so I don't try to force it. Closest I can get is a few flavors of capuccino or coffee used in chocolate cake.

Plausible, though a bit far-fetched.

Same thing . . . coffee and alcohol are both disgusting.

i'm not sure how true it is, but heard that Jaegermeister was ORIGINALLY sold as a cough syrup... but too many people were using it to get drunk, so the company caved to popular demand and remarketed it as booze instead, and made/is making a mint...
