DAYUM.

I can't decide if you should pass that on as an heirloom or if it belongs in a museum.
Just like the 1861 Springfield my great great great uncle was issued when he enlisted in the 37th Alabama Infantry regiment during the Southern War for Independence that's setting in my gun case it is both. A price can not be set on the history and stories such things have.

You did miss some of the best parties and good times. Great music and kick ass bands. Good mind blowing movies (for instance the movie Wizards can not be enjoyed near as much without the mind being in the proper enhanced state).

I also love how each generation believes they found sex and invented porn. I will always remember a smart assed 20 year old GI asking his grandfather at what age you lost interest in sex. His reply at 73 was i dont know, lets go find an old person and ask them.

Aah, yes indeed... Ed himself. Definitely one who knew who and what he was, and was not evn slightly ashamed about being true to his nature.

Yeah, now we've passed beyond my knowledge limit (honestly, I'm not so sharp in the music department). Why would a banjo be registered? And does a lack of registration mean a problem, or something?

Sorry- inside joke
A buddy of mine printed up WANTED posters with my ugly face on them-
1)Preaching the second amendment WITHOUT federal sanction
2)Teaching the Constitution in politically incorrect terms
3)Scorning the sainthood of Obama the First
4)Using common sense in a political argument
WARNING! GREG HOWARD HAS AN UNREGISTERED BANJO IN HIS POSSESSION AND IS CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS!

These got posted all over town... a town with a sizable population of old hippies. The upside is that these hippies at first tried to 'convert' me... then started seeking my advise on nearly everything. Go figure.

It is (to my knowledge) not possible to register a banjo or ANY musical instrument

Sure you can, there are registries for near every thing I'd reckon.

Here's a quick one based on two mins Google search. [url] http://gatcombbanjoregistry.weebly.com/ ... istry.html /url] (ha, I'm getting better at posting links from this little screen...)

I was first impressed with banjo work when it played a seminal post in the film 'Deliverance', but I recalled it had been around in my cinematic history a long time before that.

And later too was Steve Martin on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show...

So, have you purged many of the Obamites?

I just knew you were a man after my own heart! Can I be your partner in "crime"?
(Although, admittedly, I'm not sure how well the tenor saxophone or the bass clarinet would go with the banjo, unregistered though they bet... :P )
(Previously mentioned instruments are nowhere near antiques... though I do have a clarinet that is made entirely of metal, which is considerably older than the other two instruments...)

Wrangler-
My guitar is a Yamaha 231-G, a classic wide-neck nylon string. It can do well with the reeded instruments you mention.

Mark N-
"Purged"? More like, "enlightened"... these people are now re-evaluating their lifestyle and viewpoints in a way that has the rest of their community greatly disturbed. Rational thought, presented in the appropriate fashion, can be quite contagious- those of the hippie community who have held power over the years see me as a serious threat that they do not know how to counter.

It only makes me proud- a trained sniper, knowledgeable in hand-to-hand, covert and sabotage... and the most fearsome aspect of my existence is my ability to think for myself...

An unchained mind is incredibly fearsome. Why do you think dictatorships and fascist nations and other such governments put so much into propaganda? (I'm looking at you, North Korea...)

It's because a single, unwanted thought can spark an uprising that can topple empires, if allowed to grow.

"Beneath this mask is more than just flesh, Mr. Creedy. Beneath this mask is an idea... And ideas are bulletproof.

Congratulations to you for doing what I have started to think impossible. Many of these people that I have encountered are so taken with his cult of personality that nothing told to them will be considered. After all, "the other side will lie about everything and twist what he said!!"
I have said this about other types of idealists before, "There are people so stuck in their beliefs that if the core of those beliefs came to them and told them that they are looking at things wrong, they would blank out that info ans stay on course anyway."
