She has a car, but claims not to drive it much. The keys are probably to her house or office and she either walks or takes the bus. The boots look mostly like English riding boots but are lacking the heels for the stirrups. But then they lack the heels for stirrups for any sort of riding boot or the heels for any other high top boot save Apache (moccasin) style.
Jhodpers usually have leather inserts sewn over the areas between the thighs and buttocks where the body comes in contact with the saddle or the horse's back to keep them from wearing out.

We never did know how Kath got to and from work.
Yes we do... she has a rather non-descript automobile...
EDIT: That's what I get for not reading all the way through before answering... I was looking for the car sequence too... but I'm a day late and a dollar short! LOL

I wonder if Kathy is still a casual nudist in her home? That would be a surprise for Sali I bet.
Another point I want to make is Kathy does not, will not, and just plain refuses to work for MIB! She doesn't have to! They work for her by covering her action and tidying up loose ends. Why on earth would she want to join them. Plus her reaction to suits and official agencies interfering in her work plainly shows how she feels about them. Heck she even blew up a bunch of their equipment because they interfered! So please no most going on about Kathy getting perks working for MIB. Accepting their help when she chooses, yes. Work for them absolutely not.
Okay.

Kitchen work, too. A lot of chefs have adopted them, because they've got good arch support and slip-resistant soles. Good for keeping your footing if water or cooking oil has been spilled.
Katherine may well have had to take a second job to afford the costs of her new adoptive family... special food and nutrients for Castela, lots of shirts for Atsali (she keeps ripping the shoulders out) and so forth.
I'm guessing that she's working as a stir-fry cook at a Chinese restaurant down on Hennepin.
Those boots are made for wokin'!

If MIB was really grateful for the help (and Brandi personally, once 'debriefed'), they could just, say, pay her her weight, plus the weight of the kids, in gold. The contents of one sunken Spanish treasure galleon from the Triangle should be more than adequate... hey, Stinky! Fetch, boy....

She might get a stipend from the government for adopting two special needs children. Also, since MIB is taking care of day care, and probably school costs in general, that's a burden off her as well. Heck, since she hardly went anywhere or did anything for years there's every likelihood she has quite a sum in savings to boot (no footwear pun intended). It's also possible Castella mostly needs sunshine to provide nourishment. She may be the product of an attempt to make a being that could produce most of it's sustenance from water and sunlight. brownies not withstanding. Now, Atsali, OTOH, is actually a rather large creature so she might need a lot more food than it would seem from her human disguise. Still, she could probably catch a lot of her own food on the wing if necessary. Midnight forays out to sheep ranches or, with all the lakes, make eagle-like strikes on fish over the water.

Eh, Atsali doesn't seem the type to beat up eagles for fish.
But I think Monica could give us a few reasons not to discount instinctive behavior.

Considering the variety of nude visitors to the Bibliothiki in the past (Euryale, for example), I doubt Atsali would be suprised/bothered by it. The Library seems to be a Come-As-You-Are sort of place.

Why expend the effort when Stella's Fish Shack is just right there? Of course she might have to throw a few elbows to get past Monica and Shelly...

Considering that Atsali is a Siren, she may have the ability to charm, entrance, or persuade the eagles to give up their stolen fish voluntarily. No "beating up" required. Once she has some practice at it and becomes really good, they'd probably do so happily and be grateful for the opportunity.
Her charm might only work on the males of the species, I suppose, but
(suppresses a desire to make a somewhat off-color pun)

How hetero-normative of you

What makes you think she couldn't charm the pants off the females of the species, whatever species?

Atsali is only 15. She shouldn't be using her charms to get anyone's pants off.

Well, the only mention of Sirens singing to women I could find when reviewing mythological references was with regard to Persephone... and the Sirens' songs are said to have made her sad. We don't have a lot to refer to, to know how far a Siren's talents go in the Wapsiverse.

That isn't much better considering how foot play excites some people.
