I didn't know, so I googled the question, and found this article title: "Pukalide, a widely distributed octocoral diterpenoid, induces vomiting in fish"

I still don't know what it takes to induce it, but I conclude that yes, fish CAN vomit.

Of course they can. Ever hear of ambergris?

Or that story in Jonah 2?

Yes, I've heard of ambergris. Have you heard that whales are mammals, not fish?

That's OK, the Bible says it was a "great fish", not a whale... so no need to worry about classification here. 8-)

Maybe it was a translation error. Or just the fact that over 2000 years ago no one knew a Whale was a mammal (or anything was a mammal). (or it was actually Cthulhu)

I looked at several translations... "big fish", "great fish", "very big fish", "large fish", "grand poisson"... and most commentators agree that it cannot have been a whale, as they do not usually find their way into the Mediterranean, nor are they capable of swallowing something as big as a man. On the other hand, some sharks can, as can dog fish (carcharias). So a great fish is just that, a great fish, not a whale mistranslated.

And I have it on good authority that the big fish was called "Finnegan."

Or not...

BTW, I am very glad to see that there is a way again to comment on the comics.

I find it interesting that my point was avoided. You can't use ambergris as an example of fish being able to puke. It's from a mammal :)
