No, Dave, no! No no no song no.

And I said
No no no no spiders I do abhor
I'm tired of crushing them on the floor
Charlotte was a fluke and I need to nuke
it from orbit
you know, to be sure

Everyone knows... NOTHING good comes of spiders...

Go with what you know Lily and get the funk outta dodge!!!
Spiders are kinda akin to vampires--they both drink their prey.

Of course, if Vampires are the Mosquitoes of the Wapsiverse, I wonder what the corresponding spider is called?

And then there was also Homer Simpson's Spiderpig . . .

Spider-Man was great back in the day when Lee and Ditko did him, when he was a nerd kid who never won who could become a super-confidant, ultra wiseacre, unbelievably GOOD superhero who could beat all odds. Talk about adolescent fantasies!

Marvel has spent the past 50 years living on that fantasy while screwing the character up beyond belief...

I suspect that Lilly may have been "locked out" because the spider crystal replaces one of the glyphs.
Either that or the crystal provides a shortcut directly to Kathrine.

Here's a guess: The missing glyph stone is like an internet browser's history - except instead of just showing recent places visited, it shows WHO visited them. If pressed, it very well could take our vamps straight to Kath - or, at least, the last place SHE visited.

Ow. Oww. Icch. Nicely done!

As a reward for that pun, here's some impromptu wallpaper, thanks to Arthur's Clip Art and a bit of shell scripting.

Heh. Hoyt Axton wrote "The No No Song", and offered it first to Commander Cody.

Cody's wife told him he was already regarded as some sort of drunk or doper after "Seeds and Stems Again" and "Lost in the Ozone" (which songs, if you're not familiar with them, you ought find on YouTube) and that would just make it worse. So he turned it down and Axton took it to Ringo.

And they made three million dollars with it.

If the spider is in the shape of a black widow, then the symbol could have been the skull&crossbones of it's day. A warning to touch not lest your favorite body parts suddenly fall off. At least keep away and, if you're not the right sort of being, don't use this gate. I have a feeling Lily is going to ignore that possibility and try the gate anyway. Thus the (perhaps explosive) Friday cliffhanger.

Sorry, maybe I should have marked it NSFA? ("Not Safe For Arachnophobes")
