Ah, the trope Paul mentioned:
Da Chief. (one of my favourites too)

No, that's if he either just got married or just had a kid or is two days from retirement.

Huh. This might be the strongest / most intimidating we've ever seen a male in Wapsiverse (don't think the Chimera priests count, they're more horrific).

I think it comes down to what happens to the other victims not-Brandi mentioned. If they're found and not killed as a result of not-Bud's actions, it would just be a debriefing. If her 'hunger' resulted in the deaths of many innocents, I'd wager more than a simple debriefing would be in store, even for the generally apathetic Wapsi supernatural politics.

If ever there was a time to feel sorry for a vampire, this might be it (though I know Bathory's Daughter probably disagrees

). Yes, she succumbed to her vampiric impulses, and I probably should be disappointed/horrified by her actions and how they resulted in the lack of justice for the families of the girls taken by this particular bad guy. However, I don't handle being yelled at well (massive understatement), so I can only feel incredibly uncomfortable/sorry for Suzie here.

I don't know. A serial killer who has killed a bunch of people and maybe dismembered them is eaten by a
vampire, seems like poetic justice or instant karma to me.
lex talionis.
Chief to distraught family members: I'm sorry, but your children's killer will not stand trial for his awful crimes.
Angry crowd of victims' families: Various explicitives (use creativiy)
Voice in crowd #1: What do you mean!!
Voice in crowd #2: Who are you protecting!
Chief: (continuing over the shouts and mumerings of the crowd) Settle down, settle down. I said
Settle down! The reason the
alleged perp can't stand trial is he was attacked and 'brutally murdered and eaten by a vampire.
Voice in crowd #3: Wow! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!
Voice in crowd#4: Vampire! Holy s***!

Not "eaten by a Vampire"
He would say, "Eaten by a wild animal" (bear/cougar/honey badger/etc)
Why bring up the whole "vampire" issue ? That would only make things harder to explain. . .
Makes me wonder about all the suspects that actually have died in custody before trial--how many of them were eaten by vampires?

Something more plausible is in order.
Like, say, "One of his own attack dogs, which we had to shoot."

Many? It would have to be many innocents? I would think one would be enough. Still, people want answers to their tragedy. While it would be satisfying to many that this scum got what he deserved, it would leave the victims families without answers they desperately need. That's why taking a serial killer alive, if possible, is for the best. We don't like seeing him or her living on with the State's dime, but getting answers from them for the relatives is worth a lot. Murdering this one has done a great disservice to those left behind and is why, normally, law enforcement goes to great lengths to keep the suspect alive. So, besides being outright horrific murder no matter how you slice it, Not to mention cannibalism, Suzie's appetites would have caused a lot of added grief for a lot of people. It should warrant a lot more than a debriefing.

Blood? I thought politicians were full of hot air.
It depends on how much bloodsucking a given politician has done recently.
Remember: Poly means many. Tics are small, bloodsucking arachnids.
So politics involves many small, bloodsucking arachnids.

Is it really cannibalism for a vampire to eat a human? I mean...if the vampire was born a vampire (as does happen in some mythologies), then she was never human...so is eating another human cannibalism in that case? Or even if she was born human but changed into a vampire, she's no longer human, so can that be truly considered cannibalism?

To go by usage with other species, frogs which eat tadpoles (at least of their own species) get referred to as cannibals, even though there's been a huge change in the life form in between. On the other hand, chickens which eat eggs are not referred to as cannibals.

And cows which eat other (rendered-into-feed) cows, are referred to as "mad".
