So far every largely endowed female they've come across has cut in on Pickle's time with Timothy. And now Scarlet's doing it best of all. She's figured out you don't get cats with affection; rather, you offer them food...

Is there a canonical list of ways in which a tsundere teen can be expected to react, when s/he paints himself/herself into a corner like this?
Well, Asuka Langley Soryu, Princess of tsundere, would call Shinji a baka and either storm off or insist it doesn't matter to her in the slightest. I'm not sure either tactic would work in this case.
(Imagines Evangelion with the WS crew. Decides the Angels don't know how good they had it.)
I wouldn't call how she's been acting "affection". In the really real world someone trying to pull a Tsundere gets ditched, not fawned upon.

I saw that......
More the point, anthromorphism of weapons is as old as Man itself. Not seeing the battleships thing personally (though gotta say I consider much anime a bit creepy) but it's entirely understandable.
I call it Vera.
Saw a US Army ROTC cadet get dropped for 50 for naming his gun (not his rifle, his gun) Emma . . . He said it was worth it.
There was a reason his platoon nickname referred to

Oh, I'm sure she'll learn the right lesson . . . eventually.

I was referring to her previous behavior. She's tried being a pal and a half to him since they first met, and more recently vamping him with her newly acquired protuberances, and even picking him up and trying to carry him away from Castela. Now she's feeding him.
He's following her, you'll notice.

I suggest a new strategy, Castela... let the wookie win...
Or get off your ass and start talking more plainly about your feelings.

The term, BTW, is "anthropomorphism."
The joke I used to hear back in my psych classes was, "Anthropomorphism, my left foot!"

But... but... but if she does that, it'll make SENSE!

Well... you know what they say... "The way to man's heart is thru his stomach."
though the way i think Castela will be feeling right about thirty seconds after this panel, about Timothy following Scarlett... i'll bet that the saying might change to read: "the quickest way to a man's heart is: thru his rib-cage..."

One is informed that the quickest way to a man's heart is under the ribcage and then up through the diaphragm . . .

Really? I'd been under the impression that a bullet is frequently and consistently quicker, especially if it came from a rifle and has a special tip.

My comment had nothing to do with Scarlett and everything to do with Castela. The former had a very good point long ago in the comic, Castela spent their very young years almost ignoring him when he wanted to be friends while Scarlett tried to be friends with him. Now that they're teenagers he's showing an understandable disinterest in Castela as anything other than a friend, especially with her attitude.

Dave wrote:Apparently, the whole idea of personification-of-the-nonhuman was rather getting out of hand in 18th-century poetry, which was full of such imagery as part of the poets' way of tugging on the heart-strings of the reader. Flowers and trees were common subjects for this sort of treatment; leaves whispered, trees wept... that sort of thing.
And even rainbows.
And, in the modern era, there's the tendency of some women to personify their sex toys.
I believe they are usually named B.O.B.

I fail to see how a
bicycle cargo trailer would qualify as a sex toy of any kind...

You can carry your Battery Operated Boyfriend in your Beast Of Burden bike trailer. But if you need a B.o.B to carry your BOB you might look up a career in fetish porn.

To be honest, I had no idea what that stood for, either, though I was sure it stood for
something... But seeing as I knew not what, and seeing as I knew of the bike trailer, I amused myself by "innocently" pointing that way, instead...
