Glytch- that's the mark of a good author is that his//her work is not predictable.
A place to discuss the world of Wapsi Square

Yup. We'll be out here, battered by suppositions, hanging by our fingernails over a chasm of speculation, our bodies and minds whipped back and forth by bootlegger turns of mood and setting. We'll be peppered with shrapnel from events fired by high-calibre Chekhov's Guns that he managed to smuggle past our most vigilant guards. Just when we think we can relax, we'll be pounced upon by sharply-fanged revelations from past plot lines, risen from what we assumed was safe burial in the dust of history and "retired" charactership. We'll hover, sleeplessly, over the "Refresh" buttons on our browsers, hoping that the new strip will arrive before we pass out from fatigue.GlytchMeister wrote:Y'know what? I'm just gonna go to Confusion Corner... I admit defeat. Again.
Paul knows his audience and knows how to play us like a fiddle.
Fiddlesticks seems like a fine place to have a branch of Confusion Corner. Their tasties look as if they might even rival those available at Mucho Mocha.Fiddlesticks.
We might even see Tina Again...GlytchMeister wrote:Next thing ya know he's gonna mention five winged beings again!
Cripes, if he does that... If he starts pulling on threads from that long ago...
We don't really know. It was a one-time mention by Tina - almost certainly very significant, but we have no further information.Alkarii wrote:Once again, I forget... What were the five winged beings?
Or already? Ellen Vonn?AmriloJim wrote:5. A player to be named later?
Amazing what the presence or absence of a hyphen can do!Alkarii wrote:Wow, I totally misunderstood that... I thought that phrase mean beings who had five wings...
Whoops!
It's been done, but not as an ornothropter- The Italians built several five winged aircraft before WWI.Alkarii wrote:Well, see, not everyone uses a hyphen when they should, and I thought this was one of those situations where it was required.
Could you imagine something with five wings trying to fly, though?
Or a comma...Dave wrote:Amazing what the presence or absence of a hyphen can do!Alkarii wrote:Wow, I totally misunderstood that... I thought that phrase mean beings who had five wings...

I just had a look, and I don't find that . . . several times that her hair or coat looked sort of like wings, and the succubus had wings, but not Lily.GlytchMeister wrote:Lily has been shown to possess black bat wings. Only happened once, during the first Mampimi (or whatever) thing. It was when Suzie and Lily were having a that big fight. Lily shot Susie right in the sternum, then I think Suzie shot Lilly from behind in the knees?
I don't remember the exact sequence of events, but I know Lily had black bat wings. . . .
Yep, those sure look like wings to me... and right in the sequence mentioned by Glytch (the shooting match takes place on the subsequent two comics).FreeFlier wrote:I just had a look, and I don't find that . . . several times that her hair or coat looked sort of like wings, and the succubus had wings, but not Lily.GlytchMeister wrote:Lily has been shown to possess black bat wings. Based on the quotations, I'm going to have to check out a copy of that book from the library for a good read.lake_wrangler wrote:Eats, shoots & leaves immediately comes to mind...
Here Here! (Or is it Hear Hear?) If it is half as informative as it looks I might buy it as a reference book.Dave wrote:Based on the quotations, I'm going to have to check out a copy of that book from the library for a good read.lake_wrangler wrote:Eats, shoots & leaves immediately comes to mind...
Perhaps five five-winged beings!Alkarii wrote:Wow, I totally misunderstood that... I thought that phrase mean beings who had five wings...
I've seen plenty of four-winged critters flying around. I'm sure five could be managed. Perhaps the fifth would be used for manoeuvring rather than lift.Alkarii wrote:Could you imagine something with five wings trying to fly, though?
I recall one that had something like two dozen wings. It. . .was less than a total success.Sgt. Howard wrote:It's been done, but not as an ornothropter- The Italians built several five winged aircraft before WWI.
