Yeah, Cherokee and out west pretty much guarantees Brown bear.
Wonder what the black bears 'round here think of her and her family?

Followed by a retreat just slow enough not to trigger the pursuit reflex...

at any rate ... definitely does suggest predator as well (even if they do not eat meat only) ...
i remember a documentation about alaska ... local wildlife expert said ...
"this is the cave of a brown bear, not a grizzly"
the documentator ask... " how do you know ?"
answer ... "if it were a grizzly's, we'd be dead already" ...

Ah, she's trying the subtle approach.

There are black bears throughout the west, so that's no indicator.jwhouk wrote:Yeah, Cherokee and out west pretty much guarantees Brown bear.
I don't remember Nadette being cherokee . . . and the cherokee were originally an eastern people anyway.
However, that profile is brown bear/grizzly.

EDIT: I've done some poking around and I'd say grizzly is the best bet.

They're in Norway. She's unquestionably morphed into a drama bear.FreeFlier wrote:However, that profile is brown bear/grizzly.
Either that, or she's attempting to recreate that famous traditional Norwegian holiday stew known as Helzapoppin.
"Take one medium-sized lean ursamorph. Season well with concern. Brown thoroughly in an unlidded pressure cooker, then pound until tender. Combine with additional ingredients (seasonally available seafood if possible) and simmer quietly."

Nope, That just happens to be one slightly provoked "Mama Bear". . .Gyrrakavian wrote:And at least 500 lbs from the looks of it. That is not a bear you'd want to mess with.jwhouk wrote:Feral Nadette is FERAL.
Anybody have any guesses as to the specific species? I'm going with North American grizzly.
The difference between a slightly provoked and fully pissed Mama Bear is the size of the blood pool and number of body parts scattered about. . .
AAaannnddd because she is an Ursamorph, those two ding dongs better start behaving before she morphs into something even nastier . . . just sayin
Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

Freeflier: right after the ursatwins met Atsali, Berdine made a comment about their Cherokee Grandma.

Huh... I'm part Cherokee... (A small part, but it's there)
Maybe that's why I'm so hairy...

I am apparently partially Native stock- my chest is naturally bald and my facial hair is light. I can shave every other day and not look too shabby. Hmmm... I am also a recovering alcoholic, another trait common with Natives (not the recovering pat).

Don't remember that, though it sounds familiar . . .jwhouk wrote:Freeflier: right after the ursatwins met Atsali, Berdine made a comment about their Cherokee Grandma.
I was thinking of Shelly, but she's comanche.

It's even the name of the comic in question.FreeFlier wrote:DOn't remember that, though it sounds familiar . . .jwhouk wrote:Freeflier: right after the ursatwins met Atsali, Berdine made a comment about their Cherokee Grandma.

That comic, by the way, is also the first hint we have about Nadette...

It doesn't have to be an extant species. She could be an earlier species of bear, or a species totally unknown to mundane taxonomists that has evolved from an earlier species such as Ursus spelaeus.Gyrrakavian wrote:Anybody have any guesses as to the specific species? It's funny, I get that from more than one (native American) Ancestor...GlytchMeister wrote:The Native American blood in my family makes us very not-hairy
One day we might track back more than a few generations and figure out the genetic stew...

"Warri, For the Wiiiin!"
I think the only part of the globe we cant lay claim to is Australia and the farthest Eastern portion of Asia. Maybe not so much around the 'Promised Land' either, now that I get to counting on my fingers.
Otherwise, I'm pretty sure we got more than half the land mass of the globe covered.
As for the current comic; I'm going w/ Grizzly. It makes a better narrative...

Thought it was somewhat ambiguous at that time.

I know it's that plus some German stock for the men of my father's side. My older brother gets bonus hair from the Scotts on our mom's side.Alkarii wrote:Huh... I'm part Cherokee... (A small part, but it's there)

It depends on which tribe. Cherokee tend to be hairy.GlytchMeister wrote:The Native American blood in my family makes us very not-hairy
Same here on the shaving. I can barely grow my beard, and when I try to grow a moustache it looks like that pathetic one 18 year olds have. So I just keep the chin strap beard.Sgt.Howard wrote:I am apparently partially Native stock- my chest is naturally bald and my facial hair is light. Oddly enough, my little brother takes after our mostly german (with some fraction of Swedish) grandfather's side of the family, so he's the only one of the 3 of us with a nearly bald chest. He's also the only one who can rock mutton chops.
My older brother looks like a Brit, I look like some mix of all our ancestry (and frequently get mistaken for being 1/2 white and 1/2 just about every other ethnicity), and my little brother looks like a Swede.
