I can't really talk . . . two cups of strong tea will really do a number on me. (Granted, that's a quart of tea . . .)

Years of computer tech support following Army electronics tech. My coffee cup holds half a pot, and I sometimes have 4 or 5 "cups" a day. I put out night lights to hide how much I glow in the dark.

I cycle through caffeine addiction. I started off not addicted, then I begin to drink soda. Eventually I switch from Coke to Mt. Dew, and finally I start using 5-hour energy shots chased with Mt. Dew. Once I get to the point where I need 2 extra-strength shots and a 2-liter of mt. Dew on a semi-regular basis, I quit-cold-turkey and wait a month before allowing myself to consume any caffeine.

Do you have a nice, safe place where you can curl up and whimper your way through the two days of killer headaches?

If I fail to remember to "taper down" to one cup per day over a week or so before we go traveling, I'm usually in pretty rough shape for a day or so. Under those circumstances, Hell is a trip to a place where Nescafe is the best that you can find.

No. I don't. I grit my teeth and keep going. I have a very "Life sucks, then you die" kind of attitude when I have to do that. I have been known to out-growl wolfhounds and, during a particularly bad few weeks, I had to quit cold-turkey and deal with an overly-clever drug dealer.

The poor bastard saw me, went pale, then green, then he turned and ran away. Bub looked at me and said I could probably scare a real zombie back into its grave by looking at it.

Yup... based on Blitzstein's translation of Brecht's original German version.

There are darker versions, which convey more of the actual character of Macheath as portrayed in "The Threepenny Opera"... an utter sociopath, murderer, rapist... not at all a romantic character or a rascal. My wife and I had tickets to a production of "A Threepenny Opera" put on by our favorite local theatre company... very well done... and it's the only time I can recall that we've ever left a show at intermission time and not returned. Just too dark and disturbing.
