Since the voting is symmetrical (one up-vote and one down-vote), even a two-way voting war can result in an indefinite deadlock. The game isn't guaranteed to terminate, no matter how long you let it run.

One way to improve the chance of termination, is to debalance the voting. At some point, you change the rules, so that each voter has one up-vote, and *two* down-votes per day.

If you make this change when there are a total of N points showing on the board, you guarantee that you'll have chosen a winner after N-1 votes take place. There's no way to get into a 2-way Lanthian Standoff.
