If she was a flight line tech, she'd have to know how, even if she Didn't actually fly them.

If you don't know how to run it, you can't fix it.

I think techs can do pretty much everything to their machine - startup, engine runout, weapon load, cycle and unload, taxi to and from the pad - except (legally) fly. And I imagine most could fly routine (non-combat) flights - they would certainly know what, if not how. Probably not navigation, for example.

*EDIT* And uh, yeah, what FPF said :)

I was technically airborne infantry, but I could pilot an airplane, drive a tank, or load a torpedo tube (though flying a helicopter is one thing that I never really learned to do; I know the technical details of which controls do what, but I don't have the actual experience). You generally learn how to do a lot of things that are not specifically in your grade or in your field, because knowing that sort of stuff can often come in handy during interesting times. Given how much time is spent sitting around waiting for something to happen, you end up with a lot of time to talk to the people sitting beside you who do other jobs, and you end up showing off your toys to each other.

Which would probably be how an Air Force enlisted woman would learn how to operate an Army gunship's flight and weapons controls.

I hate you.
I hate you!
I hate you with every fiber of my living soul -- and if you think you dare try to sleep at any time for the rest of your life, it will be for the last time. Ever.
And then, we will finish this IN HELL!

To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I hork my last hairball at thee!

I wish that I'd had a video camera with me when I was younger, so that I could have recorded some king cobras. Imagine a snake that can stand up about three or four feet high. . .and then growls loudly at you rather than hisses.

Daddy-long-legs. Lots and LOTS of them.

They actually showed it on the local news here. Although I have no phobia of spiders (which daddy longlegs technically aren't btw), I admit it would probably scare the living $#!+ out of me if they sprang forth like that.

Nah, those are different species that I never (as far as I know) had much to do with. King cobras just bite your eyes out.

Cool! I remember my friends and I did the helping hands for Halloween one year. We got voice changers to speak, and airbrushed our hands that greenish grey for the stone, and before it dried, we rolled it in dark sand for texture, then set up the door(which was a membrane we stuck our hands through and relaxed until kids came by). Most painful two hours ever, but a helluva lot of fun. I went as Sarah that year, and my friend cross-dressed as Jareth, and she carried a baby doll dressed like Toby, and took our siblings out trick or treating, and ended up with bags of candy we had not planned on getting(people insisted, and who are we to refuse candy?). Unfortunately, the only copies of the pictures got lost in a move(both hers and mine independently, ironically), so some day in the future we have said we need to do that again, if only for the photos.
