Re: A Passing
I understand some of the feeling. My FIL passed away at 4:30 AM on Good Friday, which left my wife (designated to take care of things) in a tizzy. a four day visit to him in the hospital became two weeks of heck.
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

Re: A Passing
I hadn't seen my mom in a while; i was planning to run down to Milner where she was living with my brother to visit her one Saturday, and i got a call from my sister-in-law telling me not to bother coming down...

Re: A Passing
My condolences to Paul. It's never easy. Even if they had lived a full life.
My older brother died, back in 96 (at age 32)... And my supervisor at work wins the cake in the worst way to announce it to someone!
I had just gotten in to work. I was working at a call center, doing tech support for Canon Bubble Jet printers. I put my stuff at my cubicle, and went to the water fountain for a drink.
My immediate supervisor comes by, while I'm drinking, and tells me that my dad called.
I think OK, and keep on drinking.
She continues, saying that he called, and would be calling again.
Sure, whatever, I think, but continue drinking.
She then drops the bomb: he's going to call you to tell you that your brother died!
WHAT???????!!!!!!!???????
Couldn't she had let my dad do the actual announcement? What was she thinking, dropping a bomb on my like that?!?
I was unable to work, that night. And since my wife had gone to visit her mom in the States, with the kids, I was alone in Toronto. I ended up calling a friend, and sleeping at his place.
Even after all this time, I can't get over the lack of tact shown by my supervisor...

Sincere condolences, Paul. Sending thoughts of strength to you and, especially, your dad.
