Duh?jwhouk wrote:Duh. "Machine Before The Sunstone."
Duh??
Duh???
Please! Isn't that a little unkind? One had to either have had that committed to memory, or to know where to look it up... I deliberately looked it up in the archive, in the middle of nowhere, so to speak... If any answer was Duh-worthy, it was to know that Chiron was Tsillah's father, and I certainly didn't "Duh" it...
[End righteous indignation/insecurity-based rant]
Did you edit your question? I could have sworn you wrote "Bjorne"... or maybe I misread. (That's more likely, in fact...)jwhouk wrote:EDIT: The new question -

Anyway, according to the Omnibus:
Now, I'll have to spend some time looking for the corroborating link...About Bjarni, the Omnibus wrote:"An old Viking who can't remember how to walk on ice. Is derided for this fact by a female Viking observer who goes unnamed in a flashback comic. Has absolutely NOTHING to do with anything in this strip. Move along, now."
[Edit: searching for the link may take me a while... if anyone comes up with the link before I do, feel free to post the next question. Meanwhile, back to the archives, for me...]

(Hint: look for Kath's visit to the Conservatory.)
And on the same theme: During the entire time since "the book" was presented to Monica, we have only heard part of the contents exactly once.
I won't go all difficult on you: it was discovered to be a book of "poetry" that Jin kept to remind her of things - kinda like "a sticky note".
BUT: What was the only poem that we heard from the book?

Conservatory, or library?jwhouk wrote:(Hint: look for Kath's visit to the Conservatory.)
I looked at the archive titles, working my way back from 2014 to 2006, but could not see a title that jumped at me as a possible suspect, though I've checked out quite a few along the way. I also started reading the archive from the start. I am now up to Feb. 1, 2006. It may take me a while to find it, yet... Once I'm done, I'll be an expert on Wapsi Square... for the next ten minutes, until I forget it all again...

Re: Wapsi Square Trivia Qizz
Yup. I see it now. Yet I managed to skip over that title during my search...
I would have found it soon, though: I only had two more months of comics to go through to get there...
Meanwhile, I'm on the lookout for that poem, but I'm not looking for it... Just reading. If I run across it, I may or may not remember that I'm supposed to look for it. We'll see...

Re: Wapsi Square Trivia Qizz
Two hints:
1. The person to whom the book was given was the one who quoted the poem.
2. Shortly afterward, someone needed to use the bathroom.

Re: Wapsi Square Trivia Qizz
And I just found an inconsistency in Katherine's story! I am Soooo disappointed. I mean, is it too much to ask, that an author keep his facts straight over a decade and a half of storytelling? Hmm?
Here is the inconsistency:
Katherine says here that she has never worked in a team, whereas during her adventure with Atsali, we see a flashback where she is part of a team of archeologists...
Of course, one might claim that this was a suppressed memory, which only came back when she heard of the black helicopter flying overhead...
But I choose to think that the mighty Pablo Wapsi made a mistake!
And I'll now go and shout it on the rooftops!
Paul made a mistake!
Paul made a mistake!
Paul made a mistake!
Paul made a ... *falls off roof*
Ouch! What was I just doing? I don't remember... I must have hurt my head harder than I thought... Was I saying something? I guess I'll never know, now...
*Rubs his butt/landing aparatus*
Whacha looking at? Go on! There's nothing to see, here!

Re: Wapsi Square Trivia Qizz
personally, i wouldn't consider her part of a "team" in the flashback. she seems to be a student at that point in time and students are never given credit during the write up as even existing, it's all about "The Doctor found This" or "The Doctor did that", etc, etc. students are the slave labor of the archeological world and i don't think they are even considered as a "Teammate" because that would imply they have value other than grunt labor... it isn't until they go to post-grad digs and such and that they are the ones in charge of OTHER students that they are part of a team, then later when they are "The Doctor" then they graduate to the Team LEADER...lake_wrangler wrote:And I just found an inconsistency in Katherine's story! Ahem. We still have an open question on the board:
"What was the only poem that we heard from Jin's book, Machine Before The Sunstone?"
