I thought the Green Man was who Jim Belushi's character on According to Jim would turn into on St. Patrick's Day.

I'm actually referring to the pun jar, but trying to "keep it in the family", because of the family related puns that preceded my comment. I figured a godfather-type personage would be feared and respected about as much as the pun jar would be, were it inserted in my earlier comment...jwhouk wrote:I'm missing that pun...

Just as long as she isn't related to that Thing, you know that Thing from 'the Thing'... (the Radioactive Carrot...)

I know two: the Fifties version, the John Carpenter version.
What's the third?

The (partially inaccurate) reference, references to 'the original'.
Carpenter's almost stands alone in it's glorious goriness.
I don't recall seeing the third, either I didn't or is so crappilly mediocre I've purged all recollection...

Oddly enough, there's little actual "gore" in Carpenters - mostly what spews around is mucus and slime.TazManiac wrote:Carpenter's almost stands alone in it's glorious goriness.
Oh, that's right - it's a prequel.I don't recall seeing the third, either I didn't or is so crappilly mediocre I've purged all recollection...

From the IMDB "Trivia" page for the 2011 film:
This is a prequel to a remake of an adaptation of the novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr., published in 1938.

So, it's a derivative of a derivative of a derivative of a story?AnotherFairportfan wrote:From the IMDB "Trivia" page for the 2011 film:This is a prequel to a remake of an adaptation of the novella "Who Goes There?" by John W. Campbell Jr., published in 1938.
Let's see. If the novella is Position, then the adaptation (first derivative) is Velocity, the remake (second derivative) is Acceleration, and the prequel (third derivative) is Jerk.
Yup. Moviegoers are being jerked around by Hollywood. Q.E.D.
