Oh, fun! You might end up with a dog who thinks they're a cat. Which can be amusing.

As things turned out, my brother's father in law backed down, and my brother and his family won't be moving in with me after all, which means no help with housework or bills. So it looks like I'll have to win the lottery if I want to breathe easy, because it'd take an act of God for me to get married.

I was on my way home from work, and right after I got gas and food, I had turned to take a road I normally always take. There is a hill maybe a quarter mile from the intersection, and you can't see anything past the hill until you're on the top of it.

Right when I crested the hill, all of this happened in the span of maybe three seconds:

I saw a pick-up truck with a trailer partially in the ditch on the right side of the road, I saw vehicles that had been ahead of me sliding all over the place after passing it, I saw several people standing around the area, and I saw a police vehicle stopped in the way, and then I saw the ditch on the right (past the truck) was clear. In maybe the third or fourth second, I had made it to the ditch and knew I wouldn't be able to stop there, and managed to aim my car away from a light pole.

I hit a fence, and the light pole hit the rear driver's side door of my car, and I came to rest in the ditch just past the pole. I didn't even spill my drink.

It turns out that the reason the police were there was because my sister's oldest had just rolled her car trying to avoid that same damn truck an hour before, and the police had arrived about a minute before I did.

No injuries to anyone, but my car is definitely totaled (side airbags deployed). The driver of the truck? Not even present. Just left his truck.

My sister took a picture of the guy's plate. We may be able to sue him. Why? Because his vehicle was partially in the road, and caused more than one accident.

Whoa. Way too exciting, and glad you're all okay.

My mom had a preternatural ability to attract destruction upon self-propelled machinery, but never was injured, in at least 5 car wrecks. I've had some fun myself; only injured once. My niece has it so strong, she's had two cars totaled while they were parked on the street with no one on board!

May your juju continue to protect! 🌞

"Protect," my ass. This situation put me in a pretty tough spot.

Because I had taken my vacation the week before my.wreck, I was out of time off and had to put in for a leave of absence, which is unpaid. And unfortunately, the minimum amount of time I can take for that is 15 days. Money is already tight, and I likely won't be getting much on my tax refund, if I get one at all.

I was going to pick up extra shifts for this week, but I clearly can't do that now. Once I do get back to work, though, I'm going to have to take as many extra shifts as I can for a good while.
