"One of these things is not like the others..."
Had to hit Radio Shack for a pair of diagonal cutters. Just outside is a cluster of cheap kiddie rides.
And there i saw something that made me go "Huh?" and grab my phone.
What is it doing in a marginal little mall in Gainesville Georgia in 2012?
(And how many of us recognise it?)

Not even duct tape can fix stupid. But it can muffle the noise.

A cheap Thunderbird 2 ride. I guess retro is back (Or this one was made when the Thunderbirds live action was out.)
Did it at least work safely?

I would have immediately started on plans to steal it.
I know, I know. But it's my favorite Thunderbird.
And I would never sell the plans to The Hood...

I never saw the live-action. Was TBird 2 in it? Did it look right?Mark N wrote:A cheap Thunderbird 2 ride. I guess retro is back (Or this one was made when the Thunderbirds live action was out.)

I looked purdy, but the script was a kids movie. Missed their target by a mile.Fairportfan wrote:I never saw the live-action. Was TBird 2 in it? Did it look right?Mark N wrote:A cheap Thunderbird 2 ride. I guess retro is back (Or this one was made when the Thunderbirds live action was out.)
Gerry Anderson was quoted saying "I've never seen such a load of crap in my life." and didn't attend the premier. Sylvia did, though.
Rent it and watch it with the sound down low.

F A B, Thunderbird 5!
My three favorite things/memories about the (original) Thunderbirds:
1 -- Launching a rocket out of the swimming pool (and the palm trees on hinges to avoid the blast)
2 -- Lady Penelope's shocking pink six wheeled Rolls Royce
3 -- Thunderbird 2 delivering three(!) earth-mover sized portable platforms (!!) which race in formation (!!!) down the the runway so the doomed airliner with ever-so-many lives to be saved can softly alight on same and come to a gentle halt. In an appropriate cloud of steam/smoke. No -- not that part -- the part where one of the racing platforms blows a tire, and Thunderbird 2 coughs up ANOTHER PORTABLE PLATFORM (!!!!) so they can try again, successfully!!!!!
Whew -- almost choked on my breakfast cereal during that cliffhanger!
And Bobby, what did we learn from this episode? Why, the next time I send enormous semi-psychadelic science-fiction space vehicles half way around the planet to rescue giant, improbably designed aircraft from certain doom with truly bizarre, but somehow specifically appropriate mechanical contrivances, BRING A SPARE.

Your #2 - Lady Penelope's FAB1 Ford Thunderbird concept... Not one of the rolling jacks, but a life size Firefly built for the movie...
