MUSIC {and Related} TRIVIA

Post by AnotherFairportfan »

1} You can have more than one star on Hollywood Boulevard. Who has the most?

2} Who was first to win a Tony, a Grammy, an Emmy and an Oscar?

3} Who was the first - maybe the only - person to be inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice ... on the same night?

The first two came out of what Kate calls my "magpie mind" - i heard the third on NPR a couple weeks back, and now it's filed away in there too.

Here's another {not music}:

Paul Winchell, the ventriloquist and voice actor {Tigger, among others} was also an inventor. What did he invent that is still in use in medicine {well, its improved descendants}?

Further:
Winchell established more medical patents while working on projects for the Leukemia Society (now known as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) and the American Red Cross. Other devices that he invented and patented included a disposable razor, a blood plasma defroster, a flameless cigarette lighter, a garter belt with no outwardly visible lines, a fountain pen with a retractable tip, and battery-heated gloves

Good quiz! I didn't get any of them.

But now I've got Nestles Qwik commercials from the '60s stuck in my head because of Winchell.

I can remember TV commercials from 1957, but not what I read last week , , , .

Of course, that wasn't Winchell doing those Nestle commercials...

Ummm ... lemme think ... Jimmy Bennett?

Nope - Jimmy Nelson.

WInchell's primary dummy was Jerry Mahoney, with Knucklehead Smif, a character he probably couldn't get away with on network TV like he did in the 50s/60s...
