Need help with a phrase - she's an unshucked ear of corn

Post by TazManiac »

Edit- added link to YouTube video, more text...

'she's an unshucked ear of corn'

Context:

Comedy/Musical Duo - Garfunkel and Oates

Made a musical skit called 'Gokarts and Masterba...' (I've left the 'tion' off of that last word...)

I'm just not sure I'm getting what 'she's an unshucked ear of corn' means though...

Diamond in the rough?

10 pounds of mud in a 5 pound sack?

A few bricks short of a load?

A tuxedo with brown shoes?

Tracks in the snow that go straight into a tree?

Elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.

Elevator doesn't stop on all floors.

Two bricks short of a hod.

Two cards short of a flush.

Half a bubble out of plumb. (Or off level.)

. . .

There are many many more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Her cornbread ain't done in the middle.

Not the sharpest spoon in the drawer.

A few corners short of a square.

A few fries short of a Happy Meal.

Not exactly working on all thrusters.

Lights on, nobody’s home.

Car’s moving, no one’s driving.

I've read over all the suggestions, but I don't think it's that.

As I've gone back and revised the 1st, original post; see if it makes sense in the context of the video's lyrics...

I'd say the reference is in comparison to the "Delicate Flower" vs an item that's so well protected it needs to be unwrapped several layers worth to get to the delicate part!

Perhaps it's a reference to/derivative of the traditional phrase rough as a cob, referring to a dried corncob.

I see somebody has been reading Literotica.com...

As for the recent supposes, I think 'un-deflowered' might be on point.

Then again, it might just be referring to an insensitive physiology; "I keeps⁰ rubb'n on it, but nutt'n happens!"

I can't believe I didn't think it was a euphemism for being a virgin... And now that it's been stated, I remember hearing it a time or two, years ago. It should have been obvious, too.
