Hearts and Hooves Day VIII: Making Hay

Post by shadowinthelight »

HHD I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and VII.

Once again best wishes to everyone that this day of infatuation celebration is a happy one or at least tolerable. Have to keep things short again. Julie will be home soon and I'm trying to finish this while on her old Windows Vista computer with 1GB RAM that is in constant danger of freezing up like Han in carbonite.

Today, instead of a cliché box of chocolates, she will be getting this heart cut out of foam posterboard

with a tasty selection of cheeses attached.

How gouda you to admit it!

But don't be a brick: let's cheddar inhibitions and really go at it! Like, what do you get, when you cross a female vampire and a world-renowned pianist/composer? Mozzarella, of course...

Upon reading this thread Julie's eyes rolled so hard she may need help untwisting her optic nerves.

Maggie and Natalie got home from school yesterday and found small {very small} heart-shaped boxes of Russell Stover chocolate on their beds.

They didn't believe me when i explained that the Valentine Fairy had stopped by in the morning and asked if they lived here and then went into their rooms...

Actually, "Rarebit Fiend" was before "Nemo"; Nemo first appeared as a character in it.

Indeed, so I found out (before you said so, but fell asleep (in my computer chair) before posting about it...

I was going to make a cheesy joke about cheese, but it looks like a few people have already beaten me to it.

For those not getting the joke, the food in question is Welsh rarebit, a cheese sauce flavored with other stuff poured over toast like a gravy. Think of a Toast Fondue. Allegedly, it caused nightmares for some reason, hence the cartoon setup.

Jokes about cheese and beaten eggs are hard to come by. Quiche as quiche can, I suppose.

Rich food ... indigestion ... nightmares.

Although she apparently was hallucinating from a mince pie.

Update: Only one cheese left. The bries were amazing, the havartis were creamy goodness, the gouda was smoky spicy delight, and the cranberry goat cheese was like dessert, but better.

Also, you guys have a painful sense of humor.

At this point, I'm guessing that the Pun Jar is getting pretty cheesed off at our lack of a peace offering...
