NFL preseason game cancelled - for the right reason

Post by AmriloJim »

Earlier this week, the NFL moved the Cowboys @ Texans preseason game scheduled for August 31st from NRG Park, Houston, to AT&T Stadium, Dallas. Tickets were dropped to $25 for all seats, with the gate going to Harvey relief efforts. The 40,000 seats sold out quickly.

Now, the game has been cancelled, at the request of a majority of the Texans' players. They want to go back to Houston (they had come to Dallas to use the Cowboy's facilities to practice) in order to do what they can to help with recovery efforts.

This speaks volumes about how Texans feel about their home.

Refunds are being offered to ticket holders, with the option of letting the funds ride to the relief efforts. It would not surprise me if a good portion of the $1M gate goes to charity.
