Contrast Calista in today's last panel and in yesterday's last panel...

=================

I love Dietzel's range of expressions...

(I'm also remembering "Where did he learn that gesture?")

OMG! Dietzel's facial expression! The forum needs a smilie like that, that exact expression.

That look is right up there with the classic Chuck Jones' "You have GOT to be kidding me" side glance at the camera.

Considering that Monica is only 4'11" (IIRC), Cricket is really really short.

And I still don't get why Monica is so confused to why Cricket is so afraid of her, especially considering that Monica, when they first met, basically told Cricket that she would be doing the world a favor by killing her Fae ass. First impressions and all that. I'm shocked that Cricket isn't showing more signs of PTSD than she already is.

Dietzel has that; "You're a special kinda stupid, aintchya?" look on his face. Cricket's look in the last panel is priceless.
You know that light at the end of the tunnel?

That is the sort of illustration (Dietzel's) that requires paragraphs of text to even begin to convey the same emotion and will probably still fail.
We need to frame it for the Confusion Corner.

I'm having trouble figuring out that full tilt hug,
seeing the way Monica does it there's no third 'L'.

For it to be installed as a smilie, we need to give it a token to invoke it in BBCode.
(e.g.: :D has the two-character token ": D" less the space. BBCode tokens begin with a colon, most also end with one.)

I kinda like :whut:.

Not all begin with a colon: 8-) is 8-) and ;) is ;).
perl -e 'print "Just another Perl ${\(trickster and hacker)},";'

The Sidhekin proves that Sidhe did it!

Oops... thank you for that, Sidhekin. I did not notice those exceptions. However, it does appear that most smileys not derived from ASCII text emoticons have followed the :token: schema.

I had also noticed that all the smileys on my board are GIF files, but I am happy to say that smileys are not limited to the CompuServe file format.

I think that is the nearest dietzel has got to a facepalm!!! :D

there is a problem with the size, though... It is the 'furrowed brow' that makes the difference!! otherwise its just an odd stare..

I will leave it to the better artists to produce that in miniature!! :) :P

Yes, anything else would have to be drawn from scratch. The details of the original are too fine to preserve upon shrinking so small regardless of the algorithm used.

That full tilt hug is hard to figure. Given Crickets current size a full tilt frontal hug would have broken crickets neck. So to allow a hug without Monica squishing herself, or killing Cricket, the hug becomes a one arm head lock. This pulls Cricket to Monica's shoulder and allows a full hugs without causing physical damage to either of them. Luckily Cricket turned her face outwards so we can see her face and she can still breath. We all know about that as every one has an over sized Aunt that gives you suffocating hugs that cause you to go into hiding when she is visiting.

I had one and hid every time until I was 17. We had not seen this aunt for 5 years and I had grown a lot since then. She was only 5' 2" and I was 4'8" the last time I saw her. This time I was almost 6' 2". I still got hugged but only my ribs were endangered.
Ambush questions are fun. Watching the mental impact of them as they distort, or crumble, opinions based on faulty logic.

well there's a problem here, unless maybe Monica has done a 'glamour' to reduce her size to match calista.... ?? M is 4'11', calista is 5 inches... OR Calista had another panic attack to reduce M's size??????

As for 'tilt' hugs .. they should not be dangerous, its soft tissue! Unless your aunt had a wired/boned bra on!! :O
- Unless of course, she is as bad as eurayle!!!! :o :o

Other way around, I think. Calista seems to have glamored / sizeshifted back up to somewhere around her "schoolgirl" size. Yesterday's strip showed that she's large enough to be holding a Library book, and is about as tall as the Library shelf that miniDietzel is standing on. She's much larger compared to Dietzel, in that strip, than when she was playing Tarzan on the spider-silk line.
