I seem to remember someone else saying that to a mermaid a while back. I'll let someone else do the archive dive. I need to get to bed.

Points in Jessie's favor here, I think. She's being frank about how things work(ed).

Krystle's still in "aw shit, I hope I can talk her into not shredding me so badly that everyone calls me Fishmeal" fear at this point.

Krystle is a little suck up isn't she? Jessie made it clear to Atsali that she shouldn't seek contact with her social circle. There was definitely no ambiguity there, yet Krystle makes it sound almost as if maybe Atsali misunderstood. Jessie sets the record straight though which is good for Jessie. It seems that Mermaids are quite prevalent in the paranormal world. I get the sneaking suspicion that the twonas might have tried to hide the truth if Cricket hadn't been there. I also get the feeling looking back that maybe Jessie and Krystle know who Callista is. Really though, Jessie and Krystle are probably hoping that it's not Friday and fish isn't on the menu.

That was their teacher that said that. Must be a point of common literature.

An excellent update. Jessie's definitely trying to put her best fin forward on second(third?) impressions.
There is a typo though, "you" for "your" in Atsali's first bubble.

E: n/m works either way actually.

In this case, it was their swimming instructor.

...or was that "drill instructor"?

Reminds me of an old joke: What do you call a girl who can suck a golf ball through a garden hose? ------- "DARLING!"

I'm loosing track of conversations, people and settings:
1) We are in a hallway of the school, no?
2) Is it after school or between classes?
3) I'm assuming Katherine poited away with Castela at this point? Monica too?
4) If so, did everyone just leave without double-checking that Cricket wasn't going to lash-out after the 1-2 punch of Monica's emotional attack and Castela's physical one? And did the ursamorphs split in case Cricket did "go off"?

1) The cafeteria.

2) It must be getting near the end of lunch hour by now.

3) Mon poited away, it's unknown how Kath left (and arrived, for that matter) & we're assuming Castela returned to her own section of the school.

4) a) I guess so. b) So far as we know, the Cubs are still "there," just not in this particular conversation.

1 & 2 = Lunchtime in the Cafeteria.

3) Monica left before Castela's blow up, and before Mama Bear laid the metaphorical smack-down on her youngest's tantrum. We are assuming Katherine is no longer 'in the room', Castela hasn't left that we know of.

4) I think Da Bears are nearby, laying low, giving each other pronounced glances.

At least thats what I think...

  1. Cafeteria
  2. Lunch time
  3. Probably took Castela back to her class area and is explaining the situation to her teacher.
  4. After her little lecture from Monica (http://wapsisquare.com/comic/behind-you/), Cricket is probably too terrified to "go off". However, based on her recent statements (http://wapsisquare.com/comic/not-tough/), it may also not be in her characture to do so, which will stand her in good stead with Monica.
  5. The ursamorphs are probably just off screen watching to see the outcome of the encounter. If the Jaguar Girl's appearance and Castela's little display didn't scare them off there is no way Cricket and the tuna will. They are probably eaten up with curiosity and trepidation as to what will happen next.

.. if you're click lazy :/ the main line is *less than* fish sauce... :o

that's why the tuna girls are sayin ' yessir! anything you want sir!! '

It rather depends on your confidence/ devil may care attitude... standing up to someone strong often surprises them, they are so tired of everyone backing off.. they appreciate your strength of character.. :)

No. We are in the lunchroom at Gryphon High. Calista (aka "Cricket") is standing on a table at present.
2) Is it after school or between classes?
Neither. It's lunch period. They're a bit longer than in a regular school, because have you seen how some of these supernaturals EAT?
3) I'm assuming Katherine poited away with Castela at this point? Monica too?
No, Castela went back to be with her fellow classmates in Kindergarten. Either that or she was suggested, quietly, by Atsali to go with her teacher before Momma came back. Monica already made her exit before Castela did her curb-stomp of Cricket.
4) If so, did everyone just leave without double-checking that Cricket wasn't going to lash-out after the 1-2 punch of Monica's emotional attack and Castela's physical one? And did the ursamorphs split in case Cricket did "go off"?
Berdine and Nadette are just off to the side - perhaps they are escorting Castela back to class - while Atsali is dealing with Cricket and the "Two-na".
